I need to see how much more the newfangled plans will cost me. I'm sure they'll at least charge me to switch. Grrr.
* - IIRC, I will still have to pay ETF if I choose to leave T-Mobile before the 16 month period, but I'm not planning on going anywhere. |

I was on a 1000-minute Value Plan (2 lines) with another 16 months left on the contract. They switched me to the unlimited Simple Choice Plan (2 lines) with no fees*. The CSR said I would be saving $20/mo. In reality, I'm only saving just under $9/mo--but savings is savings, so I can't complain.

I have four lines and I have ZER:rolleyes: interest in extending any sort of contractual relationship for another two years. I'll give them a ring and see what they say...
I'm on a dealer plan, so probably won't be eligible for this offer. I'll have to ask my BIL about this. |
I am very curious to see where they will draw the line on establishing US residence...

According to TM:cool:, "As of October 20, eligible Simple Choice and New Classic plans include international roaming at no extra charge."
I don't want to take my chances and get suck with a large bill. :( |
Exactly my thought

I'm switching. 20 cents a minute for short calls is better than buying a 10 Euro SIM where I use only 3 Euro credit.

Hey - does anyone know if this can apply to a data only plan? For example, a Nexus 7 3G tablet?

Just switched my T-Mobile plan. My bill is going from just north of $200 t:cool: about $110. They were nice enough to waive the migration fee, backdate the switch to my last billing cycle and come Oct 20 I'll have free international phone calls ($10 extra/month per line) inexpensive international roaming and free international data.

I found out T-Mobile is rather lenient with the migration fee and made the switch to the Simple Choice plan recently.

I'm a little puzzled by the $.20 text message fee when using Wifi in Simple Global countries...it seems it costs $.20 to send a text to a Simple Global country when in such a country and connecting via Wifi, but that same text would be free if one were connected to the mobile network?
Maybe I'm just reading the FAQ wrong, but it seems odd. http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-9455 |
This plan was available for biz customers for more than 2 months, i've tried it in many countries, speeds are throttled to about 60 kbps, so it's really nothing. Their 2G claims are a lie. Anything under 200 kbps is nothing. I think people will be more upset thinking they get something, but in the end they need to buy high speed data.
Their sms and voice calls are really a breakthrough though which no other carrier in the world offers. It really shows desperation I think people will switch to Tmobile before thier trip, and then switch back to VZW or att after realizing how crappy their coverage is. They don't have contracts, so what keeps you back? Bad biz decision for them, but it's good for the consumer, maybe the others will do the same or similar. |

I'll be on the road next month and look forward to trying out on old BB 8820. |
