Got that one last time they had it - not a bad charger. Smaller than most high capacity chargers. Time will tell whether it actually delivers that much power.

Damn, missed the promotion. Now I got the RavPower 14000mAh, seems like a good one.

I use a 4x18650 power pack I bought for $8 from the guy I bought my solar battery charger from.

It's pretty much the same as the one you see in the youtube video below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niTCeZaI5I0

It's about 12,000 mAH and can use the 18650s from old laptop batteries. But I just use four that I bought new from an online store.

My Anker battery pack took an unfortunate dip in a puddle of water at Legoland over Christmas. Dried it off and haven't touched it since then. Any other precautions I need to take? I'm guessing it's not as sensitive as a cell phone.

Any suggestions for the following requirements:

Works with iPad, iPhone and microUSB (Android phone)

Battery charges with either USB or built-in electric plug (US and international voltages)

As light as possible

I have some older ones without the built in plug, and rather heavy too. Thanks.

What do you consider to be light? Light also means lower capacity...

and

Are two decent options.

Thanks, sorry I wasn't clear in the weight. I meant light per the power, I have had some that seem unnecessarily heavy for the power. The first one seems about ideal except it looks like it has Apple 30 pin rather than lightening.

For my Macbook I have a Hypershop Hyperjuice 60Wh (16,000mAh) battery to fuel it during long flights without power.

For my iphone I have a Hypershop Hyperjuice micro:

I got the model mentioned in this thread:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trave...-11000mah.html

I also have a EZO Power 7800 mAh pack as well from Amazon, which is suppose to charge the iPad but doesn't any more.

The Lumsing has held up a lot better, though I've had the EZO longer.

Haven't really used either that heavily.

Now I see the Lumsing is $29.99 and it doesn't appear as if any other battery pack over 10000 mAh is anywhere close in price. Even the EZO is more expensive at Amazon.

I have had one of these since Scott started the "Amazing external battery pack - $33 - 11000mAH" thread nearly a year ago. I was pretty happy with it, and found it indispensable, especially for long flights without power....but, for the last few months, it has seemed to hold less power and barely charge my new ipad mini retina (should charge it about 2X according to specs). I misplaced it during a 10 day trip I was on, so had to make the flight home without.

Since I am now addicted, and because I was not 100% happy with battery life after a year, I ordered this relatively new Anker 12000 mAH model:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The white model is apparently newer than the black one because it has 3 "smart outputs" that can charge devices at maximum speed (up to 4 A). The black model only has one smart port. not sure if this is hype, but they supposedly have increased batterry efficiency to ~80% from older models' 70%.

This is more expensive than the lumsing, but there is a 20% off offer if you order 2 anker devices (I ordered a new ipad mini case, but would have ordered their 40 W USB charger if I didn't already have one)

My setup is nearly the same as yours. I got the big-... Hyperjuice 60Wh (16K mAh) battery, which will recharge not only ANY device known to man, but also my Macbook Air! So cool! I can camp in Starbucks for DAYS without an outlet. A bicoastal flight is a chip shot.

Since I have such a behemoth external battery already, I compliment it with the Anker 3000 mAh lipstick sized battery, which I use all the time for top offs when a heavy-use day drains my devices faster than I expected. Sort of my "every day carry" battery pack.
