best wireless mouse
I am not keen on using the mouse pad on laptops and much prefer a mouse
I used a really cheap wireless mouse [ Ł4.99 ] which lasted about 2 years and was brilliant [ unfortunately never seen them for sale since ]
since then I have been unable to find anything as good and reliable as they are often erratic [ currently using a Microsoft ones which more than 50% of the time drives me nuts
the usb connection has to be as small as possible to prevent possible damage to the connection or usb port
any suggestions for a really good reliable wireless mouse

I use a Targus mouse with the little USB plug-in. In fact, I leave the plug-in connected all the time, since it's barely noticeable.
The mouse is slightly smaller than a full size mouse, but it still fits in the bag with little effort.
Once you establish the connection (i.e., select the proper channel) it keeps on working through power on/off cycles.
And it's pretty cheap.

I just bought a $25 wireless mouse/keyboard combo. It's nice. It uses the Logitech Unifying receiver, so up to six devices can share one USB receiver. The USB receiver is tiny and can be stored inside the mouse if you want.
In general, Logitech makes nice stuff in this realm.

The Microsoft wireless mouse (the one that works on any surface) is the best I've used, BUT... you may have to get a very short USB extension cable, so that the receiver isn't attached to the laptop body. That can help greatly with an erratic wireless mouse.

Logitech Anywhere Mouse MX - best mouse I've ever used. It's very comfortable, feels solid, stands up to travel very well, works on all kinds of surfaces. Mine is 3 years old and looks & feels brand new.

M325 is good but I find it a little too small. I like the Logitech Marathon mouse, good size and batteries really last forever. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/produc...se-m705?crid=7

I would have to agree on the Logitech MX mouse. I have a couple of them and have been very happy.
I won't buy another that doesn't have some sort of "darkfield" technology so that it will work on almost any surface, including glass, etc.
HP makes (or made) a Wi-Fi mouse that I also like, because it will connect to your PC via WiFi so that you do not need a dongle of any sort. Sometimes an available USB port on a laptop can be hard to find if you have other devices connected.
I have an older Microsoft Bluetooth mouse that has a laser pointer and presentation controls on the bottom of it. Very handy for travel.
