Oh look, another Apple fanboy who thinks Apple can do no wrong, and critics should return their iOS devices rather than make legitimate complaints. These types of response are really non-helpful, and seem all too common with the Apple cult.

FWIW, I really like the form and functionality of iOS, and probably won't be moving over to Droid any time soon -- if only because Apple does internationalization way better than Google does. I need a phone that can "speak" both English and Japanese, and the iPhone is basically the only one on the market that can with any level of "fluency."
But this version is a disappointment. I'm still trying to fix the phone so it will sync with my media library again. No dice...

For wi-fi sync, you have to plug in the phone to the computer, go into iTunes, and select "Sync over Wi-Fi" (or something like that ... I had to check mark something, but now my iPhone syncs over wifi)
Although I'm not a fan of these extra apps I don't need ... videos? Newsstand?
And while I like the local weather feature, why doesn't the iPad have a weather app or stock app?? Seriously, I feel like those would be great on the iPad given some extra functionality!

you can
you CAN move it, it just takes a bit of fast fingers. Put IT an another item into a folder together, while you move item A into a NEW folder, quickly move newstand in to the same NEW folder too. Done. It won't WORK from within the folder, but it keeps it out of reach.

Just sayin.
It's actually the app I use the most on the iPad -- magazines/newspapers look great on the iPad, and it helps to have them all in a newsstand instead of cluttering things up with individual magazine/news apps and folders.

Or perhaps there is something super-duper-special about your computer or iOS device - On my 64GB iPad, backups take hours and hours. Granted, I have an insane amount of apps, but I don't think I've ever seen an update or backup finish in under 2 hours.

A year or so back, I noticed my phone would take hours to sync. I ended up deleting some news apps and after that, backups were done in minutes.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)
But you described it as "crapware"? Why would you want to put something you described as crapware in a folder? Obviously not ideal that it can't be deleted, but the suggestion is the next best option.

there are apps that can cause backup times to increase dramatically. i have seen instances where a backup took a lot longer (10-15 minutes) after installing an app. when i deleted the app, the backup was back to its normal under a minute.

As for the "newstand" app I totally agree that it's crap. Especially with the fact that they have a "free" NY Times app-the only one that I saw that I would consider installing- and while it says you can see the top news stories, it doesn't detail that you can't actually read the article. You can ONLY see the headline and ONLY for the top news articles. Additionally, it looks like it only lets you put 11 different apps into the newstand. Why don't they let you put the Economist or WSJ in there?
Additionally, the reminder location functionality is stupid if you can't type in addresses or choose locations on the map. Seriously, how hard would it have been for apple to allow you to type in addresses or choose map points. Also, I have the iTouch 4 (or whatever the touch with facetime is called) as well as the iphone 4s. The 4s allows me to pick a location for a reminder while the touch only lets me pick a date/time. I'm not sure if this is related to different settings on the device, but I think the customizable settings are pretty much the same. So the location reminder thing either only works with iPhones or it only works on the 4S hardware. Has someone with an iPhone 4 been able to get the location reminder thing working?

Yeah, but isn't the Stocks data delayed? I've found the CNBC app to be pretty nice for real time quotes. News data is not always up to date, but its better than nothing.

Just a note of caution: I know two people who had the restore fail after the upgrade. When reattaching the phone to try again, iTunes "helpfully" did an automatic backup of the empty phone, wiping out the real backup.
I'd suggest doing a backup first, and then copying it somewhere else. Directories are listed here.
