Droid Incredible 2 by HTC is another one and it doesn't have a keyboard. Verizon refused to give me an unlock code for mine last week. I'm guessing I can fix that when I have some free time. That doesn't make me less annoyed, however.

Of course, I had just signed up for another 2 years, but they had grandfathered me into our old plan.
Could you have just gotten someone having a bad day?

That's very odd. Verizon gave me the unlock codes for both the Droid and Mr. Tb's Escspade with no probs. Acted as if they do it all the time.

So im deciding between droid and iphone. I am leaning towards a droid because is seems to be very hackable(and xda has lots of roms. Anyone tried them?). What new stuff will the iphone 5 have?
Any other reasons i should consider an iphone vs a droid?

The iphone hacking community is pretty big too.. Once you jailbreak an iPhone you can do pretty much everything with it..
I'd rather wait for a couple of weeks anyway.. It looks like the new iPhone 5 should be announced around October 5th...

I agree with this. However, having both, if you want a phone to use for calls email and various apps, the iPhone wins hands down in my experience.

I find the calendar on my iPhone 4 does not like travelling. When I switch time zones, it changes the time of all my appointments. I now know to check them on Outlook and re-enter for the duration of the trip - but I have to do that before I re-sync. My son's Android does not do this to him.

yea i miss those days of hacking my htc tilt. those guys always had every kink worked out and a ROM on the cutting edge. I'm assuming they have been cooking something special over there for the droids as well.

iPhone limits you to one sim chip. iPhone warranty also does not cover hacking.
With Android phones, some are dual sim, and not all android warranties are voided by rooting.

More or less. But the constant crashing and general instability is really annoying, and so I'm thinking about switching to the iPhone if Verizon ever gets a global version. (I would switch to the Bold, but I need activesync.) I'll be sad to lose the physical keyboard, but I'll have to get used to it, I suppose, since the candy bar form factor seems to be going the way of the dodo.
