When my desktop upgraded to FF6, there was a long list of plug-ins that were not compatible. Of course, the automatic search for compatible plug-ins yielded nothing. But so far, I haven't lost any obvious functionality due to the loss of these plug-ins.

Thunderbird 6
Bit OT
TB6 is a nice improvement on TB5, which only lasted a couple of weeks. The "Insert Link" cut and paste now works again, and one of the most useful add-ons for TB - SmartTemplate4 - now works again.
I was asked to install Outlook 2011 for a friend. Complete dross with IMAP...

Next year I'll upgrade to FF v437. Seriously, I don't see why minor updates every couple weeks warrant a new full version #. That's what they made a decimal point for...

I've been a longtime Mozilla/Firefox fan, but as others have mentioned I'm growing convinced that this is simply a stunt that is being pulled to quickly catch up to competing browsers major version numbers (e.g. IE9, Opera 10, Chrome "whatever", etc.)
Very disappointing, I favor a stable, trouble free browsing experience, not a spasmodic one.

They're shooting themselves in the foot with this policy IMHO. Business users especially aren't going to put up with a constant changing major version number, it just generates too much support problems. Plus, then you end up with stupid systems like one we have to deal with that hard code in checks for browser numbers, and heck, that one's not working with FF 4 yet, or IE 9. (Yeah, I know, you can make the browser claim it's the older version, and then it works with this system, but that's not something I'm going to try setting up for all my users, I have real problems to deal with.)

Maybe they should just do a "reverse split" and call version 60!

They announced a few months ago that they were moving to a faster release schedule.
It's annoying because they go up a major version number every couple months with no real improvements in functionality. I keep getting nags to upgrade, and when I do, it breaks at least one or two of my add-ons.

and check before you update. I'm still on ver 4 because of this.
Is there any general form filler addon that works nearly as well as the Google Toolbar?

However, what I'm looking for is a replacement for the form filler in the Google Toolbar (which will no longer be updated for Firefox.) It's a general-purpose filler--you give it a set of generic fields and it tries to fill them in anywhere it thinks they make sense. It's not perfect but I would say it saves typing such information at least 80% of the time and only rarely screws up. (Mostly in doing things like sticking my e-mail into alternate e-mail fields and the like.)

I'll look at LastPass as I've grown unhappy with Roboform which I have been using.
