Seems like a lot of folks on the ....... Plus forum are getting the same error message I am when trying to reinstall in Firefox 7:
"The add on from addons.mozilla.org could not be installed because it does not match the add-on Firefox expected"
https://adblockplus.org/forum/viewfo...bed64d22c7d252
Hoping this gets sorted out in a few hours.

Hmm, I just did the update to FF 7 and it upgraded it fine with no add-on problems (other than facebook blocker which is ALWAYS late getting updated) Ab-blocks SEEMS to be working fine at least.

For now I've reinstalled ....... Plus 1.3.9 until 1.3.10 works. That was suggested as a temporary fix on the support forum. Works for now.

Why don't they just go ahead and release firefox 56092409234092320830238943 already so that they are ahead of Chrome in versions and put away this silly mess of a tussle.

I updated to 7.0 and have had no problems. From what I read online, this should have been the major update.
I agree - this version a week is madness. They are going to drive people to Chrome even more.

chrome
Do you guys have any idea how often CHROME is updated? It's basically DAILY. It just happens are bootup and pre-launch so it happens in the background. It isn't considered an "update", as there is no update button in the prefs. I think maybe only a few of the major x.1 versions are considered selectable updates..

A major update requires a restart, and there's some indication of that as a dot or something like that on the wrench icon if you notice it. If you happen to notice it you can just restart it to apply the major update, otherwise, it's applied the next time you start it. And if you run chrome as your normal browser, you will have to restart it from time to time. Chrome also automatically updates the add-ons that you've applied, so there's no separate checking for that either.
The problem with firefox is that they keep changing the add-on interface at major version updates, so the old ones no longer work when there's a new update. Plus bloated firefox add-ons are the usual cause of performance issues. So it's a good idea to use the major updates as a time to get rid of all those unnecessary add-ons. I just noticed there's a setting in firefox's extensions pages to automatically update them also. That's a good thing.
Anyway, the best thing is to try working with a minimal set of extensions, I have flashblock, ....... (chrome)/....... plus (firefox), and 1passwd extensions in both. That's pretty much it, except for app specific stuff that I don't rely on for normal browsing. If any of the normal extensions are not kept up to date, it's time to find a replacement for it or drop it.

I also had issues (and stopped using it for a while), but it has improved along with the Chromium code. You just need to check their website every once in a while for updates.
If Chrome had better tab management (i.e., something like TabMix Plus), I think I'd simply delete Firefox.
