Thanks for that, I ended up getting the case without a light and have to say have been happy with the quality for the money paid. As for the Kindle really, really pleased, fantastic product.

I have the opposite question. My wife just activated a new Kindle for my 6-yr old (mom got tired of little one borrowing hers) and just noticed that mom's books are all on little-one's Kindle (and lot's of Junie B Jones books are on mom's).

Is there a way to not have them synch?

Go to 'manage your kindle', there should be a way to de-activate. If not, use the customer service button, the 'call feature', amazon rep usually calls you back within 1-2 minutes and will walk you through it. Their CS is amazing.

The only way to prevent this entirely is to have two separate Amazon accounts, one for mom and one for the kid. That would keep them completely separate.

You could also keep them on the same account but delete mom's books from the device (and delete the kid's books from mom's). They'd still be in the archive, but the wireless would have to be turned on and the kid would have to deliberately select them to redownload.

This would be correct. I bought the Kindle 3, after my SO felt it was too much of a hassle to buy her own, so she got my Kindle DX 2, I created a second Kindle account for her and you can sort books/media from the Amazon website.

Why can subscription items only be delivered to a Kindle?

My wife and I share an account and while I can find "her books" in the archive they are never automatically downloaded to my device. Maybe I'm doing something wrong that I never get them but when buying online we just choose which device to deliver it to and it shows up correctly.

Right, it isn't automatic -- if you buy from Kindle A, only Kindle A gets the download, and it goes into the archive of Kindle B, and vice-versa. If you buy from a computer or use Manage Your Kindle, you choose which device gets the content from a dropdown box. (I can only guess that in CPRich's situation, someone chose to download everything in the archive at some point.)

I'm not sure, but my best guess is that it's either a limitation of the client software, or the content providers want it that way.

ETA: Thinking about it, Amazon made an announcement a bit back that said that newspapers and magazines would soon be available on apps, so if it isn't possible yet, it's probably coming soon.

I love it! I have the leather cover and an LED light I can clip on. I bought the LED light at Target for $5.99. I just finished reading Ted Gup's latest book about his grandfather giving money away durring the Depression. I could barely put the Kindle down. I increased the size of the letters a bit, and had no problems whatsoever reading the book at several venues. I can d/l a book in seconds. It is very easy. I can access my email, but the browser isn't that perfect. It is very easy to organize my books in "collections". I like the voice feature as well. The books are priced quite fair on Amazon. I have also d/l several "free" books from other sites.

I am a history buff, and am reading a lot of books written from WWI vets and conditions in the US/Europe during the war. Most of these titles are in the public domain and are free. I am hoping one day to visit the battle sites in Europem from WWI and WWII.

I also like the fact I can d/l a book anywhere and I don't have to be connected to my laptop. The 3G is on ATT network and is in the cost of the Kindle ($189).

The Kindle discussions on Amazon are a great resourse for new and seasoned users. I have learned plenty from reading the topics.

Target has the Kindle for sale, but I find their accessories a bit higher priced that online. Plus, there is the sales tax issue.

If you need a clip on light, walk down to Targets' book department and there you will find a selection of lights that are very reasonable in price.

We went to NUMEROUS Targets and found from the employees that Amazon wasn't shipping to them the $139 Kindles. I found that annoying. Do they have them now? I did see that cover that I have for mine (I finally got the Kindle and cover on Amazon & paid no shipping costs nor did I pay sales tax) at Target and the cover was the same price as what Amazon charges online.
