Nexus One from Google
The Nexus One is sporting the fantastic AMOLED display technology.
See photo here: http://www.oled-display.net/google-n...35-inch-amoled No backlighting and supersharp display, especially the blacks. I think just the fact that it has a pretty good display is something worth being excited about. |
I hope some of the lucky google employees tell us more :D

Looks like it's a TMO phone:

About time T-Mobile got a high-end Android device. The current lineup was getting stale.

The rumor is that Google will sell it directly, bypassing the carriers.
Outside the US is a different story though - but again, would still need a compatible handset. |

Perhaps some real competition for Apple?
Not before time IMO. Hopefully this will be the device that gets Apple to open up a little, especially when it comes to i) selling iPhone unlocked/sans contract and ii) cell networks it will work with. Of course, Apple does hold quite a lead in the area of applications so maybe neither will happen too soon.

The iPhone has really crushed the AT&T 3G network. I've been running my AT&T BB on EDGE for the last month or avoid the AT&T's 3G volume/load troubles.
Opening the iPhone up to other 3g networks will help everyone. |

Opening the iPhone up to other 3g networks will help everyone. I like my iphone a lot but it is a complete data pig. It uses vastly more data to get mail for instance than a Blackberry. |

Yup, if you're using the iPhone's push option with Exchange, you're looking at 4-6MBs a month (moderate usage) compared to less than 1MB with a Blackberry. When roaming, I'm budgeting £100-200 per month for data alone (because we tend to use iPhone for far more than just email).
Are you kidding? I use 2-8 MB per DAY on my iPhone with Exchange mail depending on use. |
