All Verizon phones use Verizon's CDMA network. CDMA is unable to encode voice and data simultaneously. In contrast, AT&T's GSM network can manage simultaneous voice and data. But AT&T's network isn't robust; you have to pick your poison.

Looking for an equivalent of Best-Profiles for Symbian phones....I miss the app to set phone profiles to change automatically at a pre-set time of the day or gps co-ordinates.
You're looking for Tasker.

Droid TV

Just finished using Droid TV on a recent roundtrip. Caught up with several episodes of Detroit 187. It doesn't stream - it downloads the episode to your device, so no need to be connected to 3G to watch.

I wish more "news and information" apps would do this - download their stuff to the device, so I could read while disconnected on the plane...

What's strange is that after you select the episode(s) you want to download, the download process doesn't begin right away. It appears to depend on several factors, including how much battery you have remaining, if you're connected WiFi or 3G, etc. I haven't figured it out yet.

I'm just getting started but tripit and ba.com's android apps have been very helpful. I like Mag flashlight and am using wifi manager, though there may be better apps for this. I've got lots of other stuff on there (wikidroid, thinking space, a bunch of to-do apps that need to be improved before I would really use them, shazam, mass511 for Boston area traffic).

I've seen a few people recommend Tasker.

It will not come up on a Market search (in Thailand).

I saw it today on the online (with my laptop) Market, but with a price of $195.21. Are people really spending 200 bucks for this application. My Android phone didn't even cost that much.

Thank you mia. The link is helpful. And now I see that the price is 195.21 Thai Baht, not dollars.

Budget Airlines Android App

I'm pretty keen on Budget Airlines for Android. ^

Comes with an offline database with a TON of intl/domestic budget carrier routes (producer claims 50,000 routes with 200 airlines). Search is a little different from usual--you search from country to country instead of airport to airport.

TunesRemote+ would be a great one, but I've only gotten it to work once. It's like the iOS Remote app that lets you remotely control iTunes on your network.
