Visited the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in Montréal, Quebec, Canada for the first time in many years. We got a room on the north side of the building with a nice view of my alma mater, straight up McGill College Ave.

Two of my recent hotel stays were nice views of walls. Interior vent shaft at the BW Pioneer Square in Seattle and a "new" tower extension at the Biltmore in Los Angeles (hotels bookended Amtrak travel).

St. Regis Cairo
I must admit that this view 17 stories above the city of Cairo has me feeling guilty - the contrast between my lodgings and the city below is quite striking. One thing that has struck me on my rollercoaster-like Uber rides throughout the city has been how the people are commonly seen laughing and generally having a good time - not always, but it's nice to see people enjoying their lives with one another. It's quite different from back home where people seem constantly caught up in their troubles, no matter how small they are.
