Tazi, I've decided to ignore reading any posts from certain individuals, and if I do, I don't give them any merit. May I suggest that you do the same?
BTW, I enjoy reading your posts

Scheduling: That's a tough one. As of now, they schedule as best they can based on personnel authorized and traffic flow.
What we as screeners don't want to see is us having to come in to work twice in one day (split shift). Can you imagine our lives if we had to go to work in the morning only to stay for three hours and then return later in the day for another few hours. No one would want to work that kind of shift so as of now, they are trying different things and I can tell you that it really does affect our attitude, our lives and the quality of our family life. If you only knew....
Thanks....

Since you're a government worker, it may be a while, if ever, when you have to work a split shift, but if you did, which would you prefer, a split shift or part-time?
My wife used to work a split shift (not security, something else), and she was paid a fraction of your salary.

About Locked Luggage:
I am a TSA employee as well as a frequent flyer. I understand the passengers and their concerns about having to leave their bags unlocked. You have to remember that the TSA is still fairly new and we are reckognizing the input from flyers which have led to many restrictions being waived. The same goes for checked baggage. The 100% screening is brand new and we are learning as we go. I agree with the passengers about their fear of theft. In response, TSA is coming out with seals. There are new changes coming out. Just be patient. Post your concerns to the TSA. At the same time, bear with us. We are only doing our jobs. We are not out to see how many passengers we can anger.

Until the gate checks are completely eliminated, perhaps the people that go through the search at the security check-points could have their boarding pass stamped so that they are not randomly selected again at the gate.

Not a bad idea and I'm sure there is more that could be done if they asked for our input.

What happens if you volunteer suggestions? Is there a machanism for doing that? Admiral Loy has his famous "stupid rule list"; where does he get his ideas?

Listen, they do listen to our suggestions but it seems that more often than not, they get lost in the shuffle. Personally, I think the managers we bring it up to just deep six them because they have other things to do. The way we figure it, it will happen but only when an incident forces them to. Having said that, sometimes they do listen and changes happen but not fast enough to make me happy.

Well, then, do our calls to 866-289-9673 make a difference? Are those calls tracked or tabulated in any way? Does the public's attitude about certain things get passed on to the real TSA policymakers? Admiral Loy must get his stupid rule list from somewhere other than his own head, right? By the way, I kind of like that guy. What do the rank-and-file TSA people think of him? (I'm not asking you to express your own feelings, necessarily.)

To answer your question, I don't know. I wrote to the TSA myself and got the same boiler sheet reply that everyone else gets.
I seriously doubt that my call, your call or anything else will help other than managers listening to the rank and file (& passengers).
As far as the Admiral, he's just a figurehead we have no contact with so he's an unknown to us. Even our own FSD's (yes, multiple FSD's) ignore's us since they are probably in it just for the big paycheck. Guess some things never change...
