American Airlines Reported Near a Deal to Buy T.W.A.

American would acquire T.W.A. this week after T.W.A. files for bankruptcy for the third time in less than a decade. American would take on T.W.A.'s debt as part of its reorganization under Chapter 11.

In short order, more than half of all U.S. air travel could end up in the cabins of American and United, which would have substantially greater control over travel and fares along the East Coast, in the Midwest and in the lucrative coast-to-coast markets. United and American are already the two largest carriers in the world, but the U.S. market is currently fragmented, with United controlling about 19% of traffic and American about 17%.

On the news here in CA today, AA will hire most of the TWA employees!!! Well, they should check with me first, as I have a list of TWE employees (about 99% of the company) that should not be hired. If they do not want to check with me, they should give a mandatory IQ test before hiring them.

First question for the IQ test. If a flight is scheduled to leave at 10:00, and it begins to board at 11:45, can it leave on time?
