Wow, I really ran fast today. 5.05 miles, 7:23/mile pace or 37:17 total time. Felt really good after yesterday's day off!

I'm going to try to do some leg lifts and pushups this evening.

I found an old .xls that had my Bolder Boulder finish times on it today. I ran this race back in the mid 90's a couple times but cannot find my finish records for those.

A group of friends and I have run it since '01. This is a great 10k, very hilly and at elevation. Not sure how this will look as I'm just going to paste it in.

2003 was a great year for me run wise. I logged in over 1000 miles that year (I think I averaged 21.x miles/week for the entire year). The year after my runs had dropped way off (probably around 500 for the year).

I've had something every night this week, so no gym work.

Which one are you? Anne, RJ or Jen (I think Todd is out from your FT name ).

I ran this afternoon instead of this morning as I usually do and had some stomach cramp issues. I think it was due to the fact that I had 2 bowls of cereal this morning (very rarely do that) and I think I might be lactose intolerant ("I have no tolerance for lactose").

Anyway, I had to stop a couple times for a second or two for the cramp to go away. Finished 4.84 miles in 38:06 or 7:52/mile pace. Nice day up here in Boston!

I ran 2.5 miles today, at 4.6mph, my race pace on the 5K I did last weekend. No ill effects on my peroneal tendon ^ ^

Have a little abrasion on my right big toe that I will have to figure out next run. I am stoked. I can see doing 3mi on my regular runs pretty soon...what has been holding me back is the tendon but I iced afterwards and it doesn't seem any worse. We will see tomorrow.

Edited to add: I felt some pain in my right toe. I ran on and continued to feel it. Bother. I stopped and looked down and I found a very small pebble embedded in the pad of the toe. I flicked it off. It had made a deep indentation but hadn't punctured the skin. Continued running without further mishap.

It was hot and steamy out in BOS this morning, but I wanted to get my run in before my flight. Did 2.90 miles in 22:22 or 7:24/mile pace. Was real sweaty afterwards.

Monday - Chest/Back lift + 2.5 Miles
Tuesday - 3 Miles
Wednesday - Bis/Tris lift
Thursday - Off
Friday - Shoulders
Saturday - Off
Sunday - Off

I had a light run week due to the race on Memorial day. My 2.5 and 3 milers were on the fast end for me and the lifts continue to be heavy weight lifts. I tweaked my calf a little on the 3 miler.

I was in Dublin for the long Memorial Day weekend and, as planned, left my running gear at home for a nice 3 day break. The problem is that I ate and drank way too much Guiness during the trip, so I felt pretty sluggish today . Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.

Anyway, did 4.95 miles in 39:07 or 7:54/mile pace. 544 calories burned.

Chicago training starts in a couple of weeks! Yeehaaa!

Bolder Boulder 10k - Memorial Day

Well we drove into Boulder from our cabin and stayed the night on Sunday. Got up bright and early and headed to hang out with 46,000 of our closest friends at the starting line. Our wave started at 8:31. The weather was cool and a bit windy. I was feeling good and had a great first mile (8:50ish) and felt like it was a pace that I could keep. But about mile 1.5 my calf that I tweaked earlier in the week cramped up and my race was effectivly over. I walked/run/walked the last 4 miles (limped more than walked). I didn't have my watch with me but I'll post my time when it hits the web....probably around 1:15

In the 15 years that I've been running/working out (I'm 30) this is the first race day injury I've ever had. I've tweaked this calf a couple other times (the last time was 2 years ago). It always seems to be when my shoes are getting too many miles on them....? Maybe I should run without shoes

Anyways, I'll recover from this calf deal in the next couple weeks and find another 10k to run so I have a real 10k time for this year.

Sorry to hear about that, RJ. I've never had a race-day injury either, but always feel bad for the folks that come up limp during a race. Must be so disappointing.

Sounds like it's just a tweak though, so you'll be back at 'em in no time.

Just got back from my after-work run and I was not ready for this heat. It's about 80 degrees in Boston and I didn't quite realize how I'm still not in summer running shape. Started out way too fast and felt dead after my 4.66 miles, so I didn't do the last little loop that I usually do to make it an even 5. Total time was 35:37 or 7:38/mile pace. First splits were in the 7:27 range and then they slowed to 8:22's.

I'll try to be a little more even tomorrow.

I'm starting to feel like a slug. I've been working late on a proposal, and too wiped out to head to the gym. I cleared my desk to try and go tonight, but I've got a pounding headache. Hopefully it will subsdide in the next hour so I can get a workout in.

Holy moly today was a struggle. Low 80s, ran at noon with my brother, and we were both miserable. We took it slow and did 4.55 miles in 39:15 or 8:37/mile pace. We're both in terrible summer running shape.

Does anyone else suck at running in the heat?
