Seen a lot of walkbacks here, never one this quickly.

IMMIGRATION BACKTRACKS ON PLAN TO REQUIRE COVID-19 TEST FOR VISA EXTENSIONS

But less than an hour after his remark was reported on Khaosod English – sparking an uproar among expats on social media – the spokesman reached back to say he was misinformed about the new policy, and offered an apology. “I apologize for the misunderstanding,” Maj. Gen. Archayon said. “It will only apply to certain types of visa, most likely the permanent resident visa.”

He went on to say that the Immigration Bureau will have to wait for the Council of State – an agency tasked with settling legislative disputes – to interpret the latest regulation concerning coronavirus and arrivals from overseas published on Dec. 25.

miscommunication and confusion...that's why I always wait for a while to react on such news and announcements...
my extension is in October...a long way to go...but first I have to go through 3 PCR Tests for my reentry to Thailand....

Great news for many...well done Thailand, and the Immigration Bureau.

Immigration Bureau extends re-entry visas for foreigners with Thai residency

Foreigners with Thai residency whose re-entry visas require their return to Thailand within one year from March 26 last year will be allowed to stay abroad until further notice, the Immigration Bureau said on Wednesday.

The agency said it decided to relax the one-year re-entry requirement dating back to March 26 last year as the coronavirus outbreak still restricts all modes of travel.

what is a re-entry visa? they probably mean reentry permit...
I have a reentry permit on a yearly extension of a visa, which is usually valid one year until the extension is due again
usually I have a multiple reentry permit, but this year first time only a single one, as last year I only reentered 2 times (it's 3900 Baht for a multiple and 1000 for a single; so I paid too much last year...)

#Thailand reported 142 new confirmed cases,
17 from people on repatriation flights and in state quarantine centers, and
125 from local transmission; with 0 death reported; the total remains at 12,795 infections, and 71 deaths.

Samut Sakhon Governor in bad shape though.

Glad that gyms are on the list, since I'm in ASQ right now and will be able to use it in a few days.

If I am not mistaken I believe regular hotels can open their gym as of today, but ASQ hotels cannot yet.

i do not think that gym in ASQ hotels will ever open...but you there are several ASQ hotels where you can rent gym equipment in your own room...in mine they offer rowing machine, bikes, treadmill, dumbbells etc. not cheap though....
