Thai pulls A346 from BKK-AKL Nov-Feb
Just been scouting around on KVS and have noted that THAI seem to have replaced A346 services with B777 on BKK-AKL-BKK from around 28 Oct until March 08.
I have a booking in F for early Jan 08, which now looks like it'll suffer a type and class change to 777 in C.
I might have to do some re-planning......
Grateful if there is a better confirmation of what TG is up to and where the 346 will be redeployed to - BKK-MEL-BKK ?
Worriedly, TK

Looks like they messed with a good thing! Shame. I have my first flight in TG C coming up, also in Jan '08... are all the 777 aircraft refurbished??
Are the onward flights BKK-LHR "consistenly" (as much as can be with TG) the new refurbished cabins, by chance?

I suspect BKK-AKL will require use of the 777-200ER (over -300 or -200 due the distance), which is new and has PTV is all classes.
BKK-LHR almost certainly will have refurbished C/F seating.

It sure is a pity the A346 is taken off AKL. I did a search on all 777-200ER destinations and I think I found out where the A346 is going to. It is going to MXP.
As for the questions regarding the C seat out of AKL, The 777-300 and 777-200 can barely reach AKL, thus it seems only the 777-200ER will go there. Anyway, the 772 and 777 have got the same seats as the A346 and the 773 getting the new seats soon with 1 out of 6 refurbished already.

The flight to MXP seems so "short" for an A346 don't you think? Using one of TG's "best planes" for this route, I would have thought the A346 would be better off going to NRT (expecially the overnight flight). Or is TG not making $$ from the Jap market due to the low Y fares they have to Europe via BKK??
Also do they really need 60 lie-flat C seats for MXP? Wouldn't a B7442 be more "practical"?

Really crazy. Just made a test booking on the TG website for 12 Nov and it shows F available and A 340. On Experflyer however they show already the 777.
Who can still trust such an airline - or does TG just reflect the increasing mess and the amazing confusion of the country where they are from.... ?

I certainly agree that a 7442 would serve fine on MXP route. It's not as if they are competing with another airline. But we don't have perfect knowledge of the situation and TG management may have their reasons for doing so. As for sending the A346 to NRT, NRT may be a premium destination, but a highly competitive route. So yields may not be so good.
With regards to TG website still selling F. Its quite normal. E.g. in KVS my flight was changed from a 773 to a 772. But then again, TG website still shows 773.

It will be funny to see how they will deal with already ticketed F passengers on the route. Of course no F lounge access, less miles and no spa in BKK . One should try to get rerouted via SIN on SQ - for the same price .

When I said, this is quite normal, I was referring to the slow updating of the TG website. Yea, and it is sure quite interesting to see how they deal with it. I doubt they will reroute on SQ, as it will cost them a lot. Maybe they just compensate the fare difference or offer a refund. Either way, the F class pax will be quite annoyed.

Perhaps we panick for nothing and KVS (a tool I was never able to use - I must be stupid) and Expertflyer may be wrong.

I understand from someone who is in a position to know that TG believe there is demand for F on BKK-MXP and this may be a way of testing it out. IME the loads in F from AKL are quite light so richer pickings may be had by moving the A346 to Milan. While I would miss F on AKL to BKK if the change was permanent it may not be, watch the space I guess.
