1. Upper deck is overrated (by me). I think I would have enjoyed it better to fly in lower deck next to the window.
2. J seat is underrated (by most people). It’s not flatbed but almost flat and quite comfortable to lie on.

I flown with TG to SYD on TG475. I didn’t fly in J but took a tour around and came with the following observations:
1. Upper deck is overrated (by me). I think I would have enjoyed it better to flight in lower deck next to the window.
2. J seat is underrated (by most people). It’s not flatbed but almost flat and quite comfortable to lie on.

but of course if I have a choice between those angle flat and the full flat seats, I would go for the latter any time; but just for long haul during the night when I want to sleep; for a day flight or for short haul i feel as comfortable in the angle flat (maybe a bit less privacy)
and nowadays in most of the better airlines, full flat seat in J on long haul routes is standard

as someone who has spent during all those years dozens and dozens of nights on those angle flat seats and many many flights in J on the 747: yes you are Right, I can comfortably sleep on those and have always booked J seats in lower deck

That said, between that and a full-flat option, except for the novelty of the 747, the full-flat option will be preferable.

I agree with you 100% on the seat - I can sleep on it. But have to disagree on the lower deck - the TG cabin just feel claustrophobic and dark on the lower deck, and the prospect of (if booking late) ending up next to the wall is awful. We always go for row 16 AB or JK on the 747 to be honest. Most recently (long-haul wise) to MUC I had 16AB to myself which was as perfect as could be

- Overhead storage larger
- faster out of the plane
- upper deck feels like a narrow body aircraft (A320, B737 etc.)

this will be a first class seat, but not a first class service.... J class meal, no DOM, no caviar, no escort, Buggy, no access to FCL, no 1 hour massage etc.
