Yep does seem much worse. Makes my example discussed in the following thread http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thai-...e-pricing.html now even more ridiculous. Now 132,000 miles for that same trip discussed, plus the economy fare, plus the difference in fuel surcharges between economy and business!
Why would anyone upgrade rather than just book an award ticket outright?
I hope this doesn't trend towards their award tickets though which are already expensive when you throw in the fuel fines. There surely must be a lot more available award seats on Thai flights now that USDM isn't a part of *A as well.

looks like you need now DOUBLE the miles than before!
for the mileage you got a roundtrip ticket, you can get now only a ONE WAY!
TG management must have completely lost the plot or the whole announcement is a mistake

If this is true, this is the most stupid change I have ever seen, and I will make sure to burn my miles as soon as possible.

New upgrade award on Thai
Business Class between Eastern Australia and BKK is now 194,000 miles!! Plus all the extra charges, what a joke. Glad just burned 200k plus on three tickets for Christmas. Time for people to write in with some feedback I think. I know they won't listen but it's hard to take it lying down.

By the way, any good alternative for us living in Thailand and traveling mostly to Europe? I am one of those who have tons of credit card miles but most of them are with Citibank (=ROP).
Wow

I moved to BA/OW, now you have in the region CX,QR,MH,JL,UL - and some code sharing with PG; MH has really good J fares.
AmexTH,but not the Thai Amex platinum, the one linked to ROP, allows to transfer points to BA Executive Club.
For CC miles not many alternatives I guess.
Cheers

wow
BKK - LHR return flight
Before: 70,000 / 130,000 / 185,000
After 1SEP: 84,000 / 260,000 / 370,000
Wow. For real or typo? The 1SEP page doesn't actually seem to be linked from the main ROP homepage yet, or? At least I cannot find any link.

New upgrade award on Thai
I was going to ask them about new rules on their FB wall, for more exposure. But seems like they have disabled 3rd party posting(??).
I see that @FlyerTalk has already posted about it on Twitter (9 h ago). Consider engaging with @ThaiAirways on Twitter too for better public exposure than email.
