A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.
Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.
Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

I meant the upper deck is nicer to sit alone with the wife on the two seaters without the risk of having a random next to us. Plus booking this "early" hopefully 2 out of the 8 emergency exit double seats would be still free (personal benefit, wife is fine in normal seat as well).
With Q you can book the seats immediately at booking or wait for check-in? Is Q equal to flexi saver?

Emergency exits are likely to be blocked no matter the fare class - reserved for Load Control to manage. THAI doesn't sell emergency exit row seats unlike some other carriers.
Q/T/K economy (or better) economy fare classes can book the UD and forward lower cabin rows 31-49. It looks from ExpertFlyer, and confirmed on a dummy booking, that only bulkhead row 42 on the LD is not blocked, and UD bulkhead seats 76A/B, 76J/K and 75 D/E/F/G are also not blocked. Those on V/W/L fare classes will be limited to select seats further aft, at least until OLCI or physical check-in - where it could be possible to get 'better' seats.

On booking, you can select seats immediately, with K class or better allowing selection in the forward lower cabin and the UD. Q is usually Flexi with 100% miles, T/K are Flexi Saver with 75% miles and tighter fare conditions (change/cancel etc). The exact description for the what constitutes Sale, Saver, Flexi-Saver, Flexi, Full Flexi does vary between different markets. You can actually make a dummy booking right through seat selection before getting anywhere near the payment page, which can help with determining which exact seats would be available.
Emergency exits are likely to be blocked no matter the fare class - reserved for Load Control to manage. THAI doesn't sell emergency exit row seats unlike some other carriers.
Q/T/K economy (or better) economy fare classes can book the UD and forward lower cabin rows 31-49. It looks from ExpertFlyer, and confirmed on a dummy booking, that only bulkhead row 42 on the LD is not blocked, and UD bulkhead seats 76A/B, 76J/K and 75 D/E/F/G are also not blocked. Those on V/W/L fare classes will be limited to select seats further aft, at least until OLCI or physical check-in - where it could be possible to get 'better' seats.

Thai 777-300 seating arrangements? Please help ;)
Hi everyone, I'm a total newbie to Thai Airways and could do with a little help. I'll apologise in advance for this question, but I'd appreciate any help if possible. I'm hoping to fly from Zurich to Bangkok on 15 July '19 on flight TG971. The aircraft is listed as B777-300. Now I'm slightly confused as to the actual layout of the business cabin. I'm concerned that its the old 2-3-2 layout with old seating. Although somewhere on this forum I saw that the aircraft will actually be a B777-300ER. Is this correct?

Yes, it will be the 77W (aka 777-300ER). The non-ER version of 777 won’t be used on this route. Plenty of reviews you can google on this configuration.

I note after checking on ExpertFlyer that the business cabin is already quite full with 33/42 seats already allocated to passengers. So 7 of the 9 unallocated seats are blocked by THAI, but which will open up during checkin.
At present you could probably only select 17K (window) or 22F (honeymoon seat).

I was a bit baffled that a flight this far out was this full.... Looking for the date in your screen shot explained.
On a side note, I can see you are a premium member of EF, I have been considering back and forth. Do you feel you get enough benefit from it?

Subscription has been well worth USD 10 a month = 3 coffees for me over quite a while. Especially for specific fare classes, but also the many alerts possible (seat frees up, aircraft type changes....).

Aircraft surprise
Recently did a flight from DPS-BKK. This flight is not indicated in the wiki to receive 747s operating the route, but my flight did... so I was able to assign 2K on the lower cabin which is a first class suite for the short 4 hour flight. Regular J service but the suite was nice nonetheless.

I have an upcoming flight (in 4 weeks) on TG431 and TG432 one week later on award in Business, both seem to be scheduled at the moment with a 747-400. Currently seated in 2e and 2f on both flights, does that mean it is a first class seat but with business serving?

I'm bit rusty on the TG aircraft configs and after checking TG website (booking engine), Flightradar24 / Flightaware and some other sources is it fair to say that normally the TG922 / 923 BKK-FRA-BKK flights are operated by 77Ws which have the fully flat seat in Business? I know, no guarantee with TG, but it seems they consistently try to put the fully flat product on those flights.
The reason I got confused was that in several places the aircraft is designated as 777-300 and that threw me off thinking it is the old 2-3-2 config angled flat seat (1st Gen) - brrrrr shiver
