Chat is working again.. Do we know what the problem was, and why it took so long to fix? Was it the same problem that you had to deal with in 2010, that also took the whole summer to fix?

I'll leave the actual explanation to Dick; when he has a moment I'm sure he'll drop by, but he's a bizzy bee!

The problem was a completely new one and incredibly obscure. We have fixed it and ensured that this specific problem won't happen again, although it doesn't appear that it would have happened again for quite some time anyway.

I'm trying to figure out if folk know chat is fixed. Due to biz stuff I actually logged on yest & today & no one there at 'normal time'. And it's not like IB can do a website-wide announcement saying it's up & running, cuz that would point out it wasn't for a long time ;)

Its been down the for last few days as well. I guess only I noticed. Was working fine previously. Nothing on this end is broken.

No big loss though.

Figuring that it will never be fixed, IB should just redirect chat to the mibbit that Ripper has created. So much better than the 1990 AOL chat that FT has.. :)
