Not to mention FT chat is not tablet friendly either way. Looks like I will be going to the alternative location.

There was a thread started in TB forum re: this, and word is they actually are working on it this time. I think there are a couple of things unique to FT they have to get sorted out first. We'll see how it goes. But I'm hopeful sometime in the next few weeks they might have something. Plus, it might behoove them to do a 'test' w/ some of the regulars.

Cheers.

We're actively pursuing new chat software that will handle the requirements of FT chat. I'll update when I hear we've found our white whale.

And FYI the specific issue we're running into is finding one that will allow us to connect a member's CHAT login with their FT handle. Otherwise we run the risk of people chatting using others' handles, and we don't want that.

Fully understand... we actually had that happen a few years ago... was not a good situation.

I can imagine! Ugh. We're being careful.

We REALLY want a chat function. A stable, feature-rich one that we can use to hold awesome hosted chats by industry leaders. We'd rather spend a little more time finding and implementing the right one than ending up with a feature-compromised one.

Sounds really good. Lots of great things going on now in the aviation markets across the board. Just so much going on these days in the industry from terminal improvements to airplane improvements, route additions and changes, and lots of other things.

One month later, nothing done. Not surprised.

We ARE still working on a solution. As it requires a new software platform, it's a bigger issue.

Thanks for being patient!

I assume nobody uses this anymore? I just joined to find an empty room - was hoping to find a few like minded FTers (find IRC much better to sit in 24/7 than some http based chat).

PeterNem, We're still there. Usually about midnight Eastern Time Sun-Thursday.

Pretty silly that this has gone on for so long....

Yes, it is sad... I used to hang out there a great deal... but now, I have not even tried to get in for several months.....
