/forum is the default directory for the forum. That always has worked.

Search indexing seems to have stopped again. Hopefully only a brief interruption.

Edit to check if it edit returns to the post or top of the page. It returns to the post.

The previous post using quick reply took me straight to the post (unlike earlier when it was the top of the thread page).

Edited to add - this post made using full post reply also took me straight to the post.

Question quoting oddity?

i've noticed that when i quote a post i sometimes see the following message right below the text box i am typing in....
You have selected 2 posts that are not part of this thread. Quote these posts as well, or deselect these posts.
sometimes it is there and sometimes it is not but when i decided to click in the "Quote these posts as well", it inserts quotes from other totally un-related posts from other threads.

Well that certainly would fall under FT weirdness, wouldn't it? Can you show me an example so I can test it?

Side note - I just now noticed that "weirdness" is misspelled in the title.

i'm not sure how to show an example as it only shows up when i reply to a post. i could post adding the "the weirdness" to have it all show in the post or i could e-mail you a screen shot. any other suggestions?

goalie, do you mean to say you are seeing this message even when you haven't selected other quotes using the multi-quote icon (the quote+ icon directly to the right of the quote button at the bottom of posts)?

At the risk of telling you something you already know, if you click the quote+ icon those quotes are stored so that you can multi-quote in one post. When you have those selected, you will see the message you are seeing, and if you elect to include the posts you will see the behavior that you saw.

Of course, if you are not selecting the multi-quote icon and are still seeing this behavior, that is an entirely different matter altogether

yes and no but what you are saying makes sense.......

as best as i can remember, i have seen the message when only quoting a single post but what if.....

i decide to "multi-quote" in one thread but change my mind and close the window-could those multi-quotes still be stored?

i'm gonna try and 'speriment and see what happens

i'm gonna add, that it does look like the multi-quotes are being remembered when i cancel/close the page but.....

it could be a safari issue as the latest mac os-leopard update has been wreaking havoc with safari users and cookies. i will make a more carful note the next time i refresh/reset safari of cookies and such and also try it with firefox to see if it can be duplicated there as well.

but where this post has the item in question, what will follow this text is me quoting the mystery post and this is a post that i decided to quote over in ts&s but then i decided just to do a reply instead so i simply highlighted the text and deleted it....

In fact, this Fleming person has declared >$10,000 cash to be contraband along with illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Ever since this mess started, Firefox 3.04 (and now 3.05) isn't able to use any of the javascript-based functionality: The drop-downs for Search and Quick Links, the drop-down when clicking on the poster's name in a post, etc. None of the buttons in the advanced editor mode work at all.

Note that everything worked fine before this early-mid-Dec 2008 change. And browser works just fine on all those functions on the half-dozen or so other VBB-based forums I frequent.
