The Wiforums product gallery page is now full of screenshots from Pocket IE on Windows Mobile Smartphones. Is there any possibility that we can get whatever update enables that?

We are currently already updated to the current build of WiForums. If I remember correctly there is an option of running some sort of app that will modify your installation of Pocket IE in some way that allows it to correctly view WiForums, but I would think that it could cause people some headaches. You are probably better off using Opera for it for now as ScottC has suggested.

I can't get it to work on my Sidekick II, and regular FT totally crashes my phone. Thoughts?

The SKII doesn't support WAP browsing, only true WEB browsing. When you say it crashes the phone, does the phone just stop working or do you mean it can't load the page correctly? You may want to report that to Danger since their servers are the ones that pull the FT pages and translate them to the device, I'm pretty sure I read in the past that they can determine why a page won't load correctly. Back in the early days when I was testing the SK1 I had no problems browsing FT...

Can you elaborate? I have had no look using Mobile IE with my T-Mobile SDA (also with Windows Mobile 5.0)
Opera didn't work either.

After a couple of pages load, I get error messages that say the memory is too full to load the script. Eventually, the entire SKII slows pretty much to a half, making other applications stop as well. I've had to hard-restart twice, both when browsing FT. Also, everything loads waaaay down the page, then the graphics show up, then waaay down further, the page content.

Do you have recommendations for where I can send my concerns to Danger?

Thanks,
GG

Is the wireless FT down right now. I just got a 8703 Sprint and it is not working . It gives me a wiforum error message.

FLYGVA Nov 12, 2006 11:25 am

I tried to access it several times during the weekend (while being at the DO in London) and could not. Thought, it might be a problem with the roaming partner (though I could check mail with my Smartphone), but could not here back at home either.

More Champagne Sir? Nov 25, 2006 6:05 pm

I've just come across this service and this thread through a question I asked in OMNI.

Just wanted to say major thanks and ^^^ to FT for setting up this wireless option, which is truly brilliant! I have a Nokia E61, which whilst fully capable of viewing full version FT on its explorer, the wireless version is much much faster and far more suited.

One thing though for anybody else that might come across this servcie and doesn't want to read all the past posts, I recommend (following the recommendations of other FTers) changing the prefs to:

-- Truncation: Off
-- No of posts/page: 30
-- No of threads/page: 30

Once again, Thanks FT! and in particular, Thanks Tim at WebFlyer! :)

Ah very nice interface on the Nokia E61 - and fast too with 3G...

(edited to add - D'oh this was referenced 2 posts earlier!)

Will FT support the IE-lite browser on most Windows Mobile phones anytime soon? :(

senor_jefe Feb 19, 2007 12:23 pm

I am seeing a whole load of HTML (or the WAP equivalent) on my BlackBerry 7100 and then the normal Flyertalk data shows up on the bottom of the screen. Similar problem with the AC WAP site, but I have no idea how to fix it. Any ideas?

Nevermind. Played with some settings to change the default browser used and works like a charm now.

There is some information at: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=633053 about Pocket IE and getting it to work. I have not tried this and can not confirm how well it works myself, but there are some users seem to have had some success with it. Another alternative is using Opera to view FT mobile.

T-Mobile Dash with WM6

I attempted to access the Flyertalk wireless site on my T-Mobile Dash, running WM6 - and it kept redirecting me to the regular HTML version.

Right now I'm seeing "The wireless forum has been temporarily disabled".

How long will this last for?

We hope to have the WiForum back up soon, I will post when it is back up. Thank you,

I am having issues viewing FT mobile.I just bought a tmobile dash running windows mobile. When I go to the mobile site I have to the scroll down a huge page of nothing but blue headeruntil I see the forum links.it takes a good20 seconds to scroll till I see the forum links.

Robbiedeluxe Apr 13, 2007 8:45 am

AFIK, Wireless FlyerTalk does not support Internet Explorer on Windows Mobile devices, yet. You'll have to either tweak your registry (after all, you're running Windows :td:) or download Opera Mobile from www.opera.com.

Nope, not for me...using a Nokia E61. I can access "normal " FT using the browser. Have successfully posted previously with this device.

It has been working fine for me the last few days with Opera on a couple different phones. It was definately out for a while.

That sounds like a problem with your browser not being supported, the best remedy to this is to install Opera Mobile and use it to browse the site. There is a possible work around for getting pocket IE to work with the wireless forums earlier in this thread if you would like to check it out, but I can not verify if/how well it works. I has worked for some though.

Does Opera mobile have a fee associated with download and/or use? Or is it free?

g-i don't know about "opera-mobile" but i use "opera-mini" on my nokia 6131 and it is free to d/l and the only uasage charges are those associated with my cell phone data plan. i just checked here (http://www.opera.com/products/mobile/) and it looks like opera-mobile is $$ but if your phone can use opera-mini, it's not bad for a quick on-line session. n.b. you do have to set up the "access point" on your phone for opera-mini to connect but i found the settings in the "forum" section on the opera mini home page.

I am certain that it can be downloaded and tried out for free, I'm not sure if it is necessary to buy it after a trail period or not though. Does anyone who uses it know?

Is it possible to increase the actual size of the text box when replying to a thread? I'm using a Nokia E61i and everything is adjusted to my screen, except the text box which is too small.
