Iam using my Blackberry 7230 as I write. It works just fine. My only issue is that some of the images don't show.

I would agree with other posts in that it would be good to see more than one post per page. Could the font be made smaller? I it were the equivalent size of the menu a lot more could be displayed.

However I do think this is a great addition to FT.

It may be that your device is having problems with the images, you should be able to turn off the images under "MyPrefs" > "Image Options". Thanks,

Got it working now - I think I was just being a bit impatient. The images load if I give it time.

6610 should have no problem at all connecting. What error or symptoms are you getting?

When will pocket internet explorer be supported?

The developer has not give a time frame but did use the phrase: "WiForums PocketIE AHM for Windows Mobile 2005 is not yet available." So it sounds like they do plan to support it in the future.

It is a four year old 6610 (not a 6610i) and the WAP Browser is old (habe problems acessing more wap sides, though Swiss and Lufthansa WAP Portal work more or less. So, I do not worry about the not working portal .... Do not aks me anything about technical informations, I even have the manual not anymore :D

Okay, back to you question. I could log me in and see the start page (with PM) and Myforums etc. If I try to open them I got the Login window again. But I could klick on who is online and see ball users (the only possible function available).

Thanks

Try going to "My Prefs" and turning "Truncate" off. It should give you a page of full posts. You can set the number of posts and threads per page using the "My Prefs" menu. IMHO wireless FT works brilliantly. ^

Neat feature of FT - thanks! ^

i'd like to echo the "vertical listing" as well and if i may add-after i log in and selct a thread, prefs, pm, etc, i'm asked to log in again  but other than that, works great on my nokia 6102 tho it would be nice to be able to set your prefs from the website-just a thought but again many thanks ^

Sounds like your phone may not be set up to accept the equivalent of cookies for a phone browser correctly or that it is prematurely deleting them from what you say about it logging you out.

You can set your preferences for FT Wireless with the Opera browser, it has built in Wap support: http://www.opera.com/ so you can view the wireless version of FT using that browser on your desktop or laptop computer and set your prefs that way. :)

Posts (rather than threads) per page is another one of the things that people are complaining about. You cam set it to a number as large as 30 using the "Post Options" under "My Prefs." (Though I must say that a default of only one post per page seems kind of silly. Is there a way that the initial default values can be set to something reasonable?)

And I already posted via FlyerTalk WAP a week ago, on the Brooklyn Reality Tour thread in Community. ;) Works great; big improvement over accessing regular FT from my BlackBerry. Posting to regular FT was especially problematic as it seemed to time me out repeatedly. The WAP version doesn't seem to do this as much and is generally more manageable. ^

Thx! Didn't realize there was a separate set of prefs for the wireless!

Works for me. I'd like more posts per screen. The download takes more time than it would with 5 - 10 posts.

dulcamara Feb 5, 2006 4:33 pm

truncate = off; posts/page = 30; threads/page = 30 was exactly what I needed. ^

It would be great if I could set wireless prefs on line and not have to wait for things to load. Or maybe I should just get an 8700 and have EDGE.

I think that's the ticket. With EVDO (Verizon's broadband) on my cell phone, everything is blazing fast. Even set to 30 per page.

No problems whatsoever using a BB 7250. Thanks Tim and anyone else who thought to implement and then got this up and running!

This is much better then using the Archive (where it was read only) and faster loading then using the regular FT, when one wanted to post.

I do have a question though. I would assume that turning Truncation off would allow all of a post to show up, instead of having to click more again and again, especially on long posts (ie, trip reports) but apparently it does not. What does turning Truncation on or off actually do?
That is my only complaint, it would be nice to allow a whole post to show up on the page, no matter how many characters long.

Ok, posted before reading the 2nd page of posts in this thread.
Truncation has to do with how many posts per page. I assumed it meant Show or Do not show a whole post w/o having to click "more" if a single post goes over x number of characters.
So that is still my question / "complaint".

How don or what Pref needs to be changed, for you to see a whole post w/o having to click more? :)

For those of you w/ BBs , remember that there are image options on the BB as well as under your FT wireless Prefs.

Also I have found changing my font on my BB to BBMillbank (size) six makes for easy reading, if I keep the BB within 12 to 18 inches of my face. Any further away and font size needs to increase but then of course you lose screen real estate.

Any chance of getting SpellCheck? ;)

Edited to add:
I think this might just be the BB and lack of color but it is very hard to see the "Menu", "Edit" and "Quote" links on the page.
Since the links are blue and the banner they are on is only a slightly different shade of blue they are tough to see.

How are the FT blue colors coming through for everyone else and is it tough to see the links on them?

It appears that truncation can't be turned off, truncation is of course there for phones that have a smaller maximum page size limit. Addressing another question, because of the page size limit of some phones we will probably be keeping the default for the posts per page setting at one as well, though this can be changed pretty easily in the options as has been pointed out already.

Spell check is something that I don't know of being in the plans for the future. The links are pretty easy for me to see though that is in color not b+w... anyone else have trouble seeing them?

And my BB is in color just not very good color imo, 7250 has pretty washed out color.

Try setting posts per page to 10 and truncate off. It should give you a page of ten complete posts.

Tim - I seem to be going round in circles with login - I login then try to look at the airlines forum and it asks me to log in again. I do so and I am back at the home page for wap again.

It was working great. I really like it but I seem to have this little glitch- any suggestions?

My best guess would be that your Blackberry is not holding on to your login information for one reason or another. I'm not sure if cookie is exactly the correct term when referring to a wireless device, but I would check my preferences and make sure that I have things set up correctly to accept and hold on to cookies from FlyerTalk. Do any Blackberry users have any suggestions if they have come across similar problems in the past? Thanks,

Ihave logged on again and adjusted my settings.I also cleared the cache to see I it was a memory problem.

I can browse any where on the wap site apart from the Airlines Program forum. When I try to open this up it just asks me to log in again and ater doing so I get taken back to the wap home page.

Very strange. I am using my Blackberry at this time and it works fine apart from when I do this.

Any other suggestions as to what I can do?

Is there a particular sub-forum inside the Airline Programs forum that you are trying to go to that causes this? Can you give me a few specific examples of forums that do this? Thanks,

I just submitted this on my new T-Mobile SDA. The site worked fine on my Nokia 3650, but can't get it to work now. It did say that someone has already submitted a request for SDA.

Any info/update you have would be great!

I don't have any specific info on your device, but the developer claims that he does his best to get support added as fast as 24 hours after a mime is submitted, though I imagine that there are many cases when they can't get them going right away. If you give it a try later on tonight you might find that it works then...

The problem with the SDA is that it use Pocket Internet Explorer, which presents itself as an Internet browser, not a WAP browser.

Ok, thank you both. Will try using Opera.

Well, I'm still unable to access FT on my T-Mobile SDA phone :(

I tried installing Opera, but that didn't work either.

I guess the problem is that I'm using t-zones and not the full internet service which costs $30/month or whatever.

This sucks. My 3 yr. old Nokia 3650 worked better than this thing. I feel like T-Mobile ripped me off :( :td:
