I happened to notice this from the voting announcement:-
**On a side note - we have disabled signatures during the voting period in an effort to prevent further campaigning. This is only a temporary disabling of this benefit and signatures will be turned on once again on Nov. 1.**

Interesting. Thought it might have been due to server load etc. @:-)

I liked them as they added a bit of light hearted fun to the boards. ^

I notice missydarlin still has her election campaign signature enabled.

Randy did email all Candidates before voting began urging us to all use signatures, make them bold and colorful (but stated max limits!) and make the wording on them as catchy and off-beat as we wished.

And agreed all 'campaign staff' could also have permission to use them too: "I only ask that such campaign staff remove these signatures after the elections."

Anyway, I retained the HTML for mine below, and this will now create an avalanche of late TalkBoard votes one hopes, as no others may be visible for a while.

.
Glen

NOTE: I HAVE REMOVED THE HTML SINCE IT CLEARLY VIOLATES THE SPIRIT IN WHICH WE INTENDED SIGNATURES TO BE TURNED OFF. OUR GOAL IS TO LET MEMBERS DECIDE WHO TO VOTE ON, NOT MEMBERS TO BE TOLD WHO TO VITE ON. THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION ON THIS - RANDY

I recently received a forwarded e mail from someone who has been mass e mailing flyertalkers asking for votes.

I think this is unethical.

...or maybe they PMd a bunch of people that were on a thread they helped each other out on something huge once and thought they'd remind them to vote--for anyone (including possibly that person) so it may not be such a bad thing after all, but people love to highlight the erros of others if they feel those were errors. I know I did PM (but not email) a bunch of people myself in that same fashion, which I think is not such a bad thing... I dunno, maybe the guy who emailed you doesnt really want your vote in the end then anyway. Oh well.

wha's this got to do with the sigs page anyway?

Angry Censoring the elections

I think that it is Bull to disable signatures. They livened up the elections.

What happened, did a few people who couldn't think of a catchy signature get upset and complain??????????
