When text is copy/pasted, depending on the source of the copied text it may contain embedded color tags, hence when it is pasted into a post, the pasted text (and anything you type after it) will appear in that color.
This can be problematic because if the source text was black or any other dark color close to black, it will appear essentially invisible to people using dark mode.
Similarly if the text was white or any other light color close to white, it will appear essentially invisible to people using light mode.
Technical solutions to this inherent problem exceed the scope of this wiki, but here are some workarounds.
Before the fact: when pasting, use "Paste as plain text" -- this causes all styling (colors, italics, underline, font size etc.) to be omitted when the text is pasted.

- if pasting using your mouse, right click menu => "Paste as plain text"
- the keyboard shortcut for this is usually Ctrl-Shift-V or Command-Shift-V
- on mobile devices you should see "Paste as plain text' as an option when pasting, though it may require a long press or using the 3-dots menu
- Easy way: if you have the full editor enabled in your FlyerTalk preferences, select the affected text (or Ctrl-A, Command-A, or long press => select all), click/tap the text color menu (looks like a capital A with an underline) and select "Automatic"
- Hard way: click on the Source button and manually remove the bracketed COLOR and /COLOR tags.

Dark Mode and Text Color
I use dark mode and 99% of the time use the automatic font color. However I recently had this exchange on the Avis forum:

I'm not sure if it's user error (I don't double check every single time) or if something is wrong with the software.

It seems you've edited the post, so I don't know how it looked originally, but when you edited it, did you happen to click on the Source button and if so did you see COLOR tags?
When writing the original post did you copy and paste anything?
Asking the above because a lot of "report data points" threads that have a wiki with a standard template for people to copy/paste, end up being pasted with black color tags (or sometimes white) and thus don't play well with dark (or light) mode as a result, unless the poster pastes via right click => paste as plain text (or ctrl-shift-V, or its equivalent on other operating systems)

FWIW I generally copy my own posts on this thread, but paste as plain text (on my computer, ctrl+shift+V). Is this not the right way to remove any formatting?

That ought to have worked -- but either way, did you also see the question about COLOR tags? If you can't recall, you can click on that post on the link where it says "Last edited by" (this link only appears to the OP of a post and the mods in that forum) and it will show a dialog where you can compare the before/after of edits.
