If it happens again, post a screen shot of the FT page that has the ads on it.

Ad hanging Mac Safari on Mavericks 10.9.5
Some sort of Ad is causing Safari to hang and stop rendering the page on Mac OS X 10.9.5. I can't tell which ad as it happens before it is displayed, but it started in the past couple of days and is very frequent in all forums.

not a crash, but new to me (malware?)
You have chosen to open: afr.php which is Plain Text (0 bytes) from: htp://cas.sv.us.criteo.com |
I am blocking third party cookies and third party trackers. Is there anything else I can do to prevent targeted ads from showing up? When I am viewing FT on my phone, I often get ads from this store I shop at.

The flash ads locked up Firefox this morning. It doesnt completely crash, but firefox becomes unusable due to the flash ads. Obviously something is wrong with them. It was displaying all Citi Advantage "The New American Passport" ads everywhere but I am unsure if those were the culprit. I simply disabled flash and magically I can browse the site again.

The AA forums have been unusable for me for the past week, but following your suggestion I turned off Flash, and, like magic, I can now surf AA forums again.

I had the same problem with windows after update to the latest adobe flash player.
It is turnout some flash banners load 100-300 MB of ram and utilized 10-20 % of the cpu. I dont know is it from new flash player uprate or are these flash movie adds, but after uninstall of the flash player the problems are gone. |
youre saying you went back a prior version of flash? interesting.

Hyatt Pop up Ad
Starting 10Jun15, pop-up window for Hyatt Get 2 nights Free
I normally don't get pop ups with FT. This one is very annoying |
There is a new version of adobe flash 18 and something ( the version from last week was 17 and something)
It seems that the problem is with the add not the flash player. With just one page of flyertalk loaded and one flash add ( it is like yourtube video, but play over and over again). Load my pc with 200 MB and 12% of the of the cpu power, this is just the load of the adobe flash player + what the browser load. My pc is with i5 2,5 Ghz and 8 GB of ram so 12% cpu load and 200 MB is a lot. |
Just now, when browsing the forum:
http://s23.postimg.cc/dutcwjitn/Pop_up.png If I click on OK, it leads to: http://s28.postimg.cc/4o8b14ubh/Pop_up1.png Happened only on FT. Firefox on a Linux Centos 6.3 |
When accessing the forum I have text in black letters displayed at the top of various pages. The text appears to be an Ad that wasn't rendered correctly.
I am using Safari on OSX. Here's an example. (Look in the area of the Sub-Forums section) http://s9.postimg.cc/4t4e3m80v/Smudge.png |
