I don't find them so annoying (ok I do), but something in them seems to cause all of the posts that are "new" since my last login to get lost. Hit the site, close the pop up, read Buzz, go back all the lit up bulbs are gone...and new pop up is there.

All of you that are experiencing the multiple Weather Bug popups... do you have cookies enabled and accepting?

I'm set up to automatically accept flyertalk, automatically reject ru4, and am prompted for tribalfusion.

Don't remember what my tribalfusion accept/reject decision was last night.

I was getting multiple weather bug pop-ups last night and I have always had cookies enabled and accepting. No changes were recently made.

Since the popups use a cookie to determine the last time it was served, it's probably a good idea to accept any cookie requests you encounter on the FlyerTalk site. They should only be cookies for the flyertalk server and the tribalfusion server and subdomains. I'll let our ad people know about the Weather bug feeback, though.

Jeremy, you should be able to view your cookie preferences from within your browser. Depending upon which browser you're using, check for a security settings (or cookie settings) and a list of accept/deny settings.

Just got some more information from our ad company. They're not running the Weatherbug (or the FemaleAdvantage) campaign at all. They think it could be coming from some type of adware program that users may have inadvertantly installed on their computers, such as Gator, Gain, etc.

Also, a correction on my part; I assumed that our ad company cookie limited the popunders to one ad per campaign per day. That's not the case... actually the cookie limits the popunders to one per day, period. They've also told me that they haven't served _any_ pops to FlyerTalk today (4/2) or yesterday (4/1).

If you're getting multiple pops, and you have cookies set to accept, more than likely you have some other software running on your system (even in the background) that's serving ads.

Dan, I even got the weatherbug ad on a machine that was just out of the box, I am positive Gator wasn't running on it.

FWIW, I haven't seen "weatherbug" in the past 24 hours so perhaps it was just a glitch on their side?

Reading this thread was quite the surprise to me, in that I haven't seen any kind of popup (or popunder) ads in quite some time... from FT or anywhere else for that matter. Obviously the software I run to prevent such nuisances is working well.

Give AdsGone a try... http://adsgone.com/

Oh yeah... it works with those horrible Gator/GAIN ads too!

Dan - thanks for the advice. I hate taking cookies when I don't have to, but it's a small price for using this site.

And, not that it's a big deal, but I'm pretty sure the WeatherBug was coming from FT. The popunder behavior was only consistent with moving around on this site, not others I visited that night.
