Not sure if one thread can slow down FT but the one above is getting some very heavy traffic.

As well as the folks at slashdot, they hit hard. ;) Joshua has made some settings adjustments that should help the speed of the forums. Thanks,

Thanks for all your help trying to deal with the huge load today. It would be a shame if some of the new people coming to Flyertalk left because they kept getting those database errors.

Not only slow...

Yesterday and tooday, I experienced soemthing to the effect.."server not available, try again later" message. When finally got connected, the search function tend not to work. Too much traffic? or server down?

Molasses slow.

At least they aren't coming and saying "Where are my cheap fares???" ;)

Looks like Web1 and Web2 are down, Wed evening, about 7:40 PST. Web3 and 4 are up.

Must depend on where you're located.

Web1 And Web2 are super speedy in Southern CA tonight.

At the moment, web1 is down (at least for the UK). I had problems with it yesterday as well.

I'm using web3, with no problems.

Web1 is permanently down, Joshua brought it down yesterday afternoon. The best way to avoid conflicts like this is to use the generic www.flyertalk.com url rather than any particular server such as web3 or web4. Thanks,

Globaliser Nov 7, 2006 9:17 am

Thanks for the information.

However, I think that many of us use the specific servers because doing that produces faster responses than using the generic URL. It would be easier to use the generic URL if we could be assured that that will always be at least as fast as using any specific server, but that's not been my experience.

i'm using web3 right now because my usual (www.flyertalk.com) is s-l-o-w...anyone else having trouble?

SanDiego1K Nov 8, 2006 8:03 am

Painfully slow - and I've now moved to web3 as karenkay has suggested, where I'm getting good performance.

Globaliser Nov 8, 2006 8:13 am

www was blisteringly fast this morning (London time) - about 6 or so hours ago - and so I was being good, as Tim asked. But it slowed right down a little later.

So now I've moved back to web3, for the same reasons.

Mary2e Nov 8, 2006 8:19 am

I went through all the servers, finally getting to web3 and being able to get in.

Tim at WebFlyer Nov 8, 2006 10:39 am

We are currently having some trouble with web4 and Joshua is working on it. Thanks,

www not working at all for me - web3 okay
