Bit slow for me today also, but its been that way the past couple of days. Had to try several times recently to get to the Buzz, as it never loaded. Went to other forums first, then came back to the Buzz.

The "Last Post" information can be indicative of a problem. Nobody has posted to the AA forum in the past six hours, which is quite unusual for the AA forum. I still cannot access it.

Everything is very slow right now. It started earlier today (about 4-5 hours ago), but it was manageable.

Currently, it's quite difficult to read/post and seraches are out of the question. Again, modem connection with all other sites (yahoo, cnn, msn, nyt, wsj, etc) working fine.

even with my Ethernet TV- cable connection I now have response times of about 30 seconds per new forum (if not an error message).

I've been trying to post a new message in the AA area, but keep getting time out errors. Same error when trying to do a search. Posting replys seems OK, though.

Good afternoon everybody...or not.

Yes, we're very aware of the problems that we are having and we are continuing to attempt to find solutions to the problems...it's very, very slow going...as you can all tell.

It pretty much appears that the following is what seems to be happening:

1. The server comes under durress on different days at different times...a given.

2. Posting gets interrupted...something which many of you are all too familar with.

3. Files become corrupt. When this occurs the scripting is at a loss as to how to parse the the corrupted data and then the problems really start. Forums slow down and either stop completely or postings show up missing, etc, etc, etc.

4. Forums have to be shut down, and a number of very time consuming processes have to be undertaken to remedy the situation...which is what's going to have to happen to rectify this particular situation.

Unfortunately, at least at this point in time, there is no fast and easy solution...not to mention cost efficient.

phoenixitc, you are correct that you have the right to expect professional behavior from our staff...from all of us...volunteers and paid staff alike. Please accept my apologies if you feel that we have been out of line.

Thank you all for your continued support and for your patience in this matter.

Expotrac, your "new" post is there. Trust me...

AA board's back up, everyone!

Thanks, Michael.

Oops. Now it's gone again! But I swear it was there--if only for a fleeting moment. Expotrac's missing post was there about 30 times over...

Hi, Michael.

I don't pay for this service (FT), but I sure love it. You know what they say about passion ...

Things are better right now (07:14 AM my time).

I am not an "angry" poster (i.e. Hungry Traveler). I work in this field, so I try to understand.

I do think, however, that some sort of message (automated?) should be posted when things start to slow down and muck up. The only way I know if things are "down" is to go to the Technical Issues forum to see if the "Slow Today!" thread is active.

As you may have noticed, this thread jumps over many days and incidents, and posters aren't always aware of that.

Perhaps making use of the "mail delivery" box (at the top of each forum) to inform users of tech problems would be a good idea.

I think the majority of the FT users here would just like to know if it's a FT thing or if their PC/ISP is on the blink.

Thanks for listening.

About 1 hour ago, United forum was totally unsearchable and it was non-existent in the forum list of FlyerTalk Miles.
Now it is back normal.

Thanks for the comments. While it doesn't make things work any faster, I'm sure many of us on this board who have some technical knowledge prefer to have some explanation like that.

Have you ever managed to isolate the point at which things start going wrong? I wonder whether it's directly load related, or some kind of locking failure which is made much more likely by high load on the server?

Things seem much better now, after your work last night, Michael, and thanks for the bulletin earlier in the evening.

By the way, I don't think of myself as a FlyerTalk customer, but as a guest.

Yep!

It's a bit slow for me, however, again today! Yet it is more than bearable!

For the last couple of hours, the whole board is slower than usual. Posting on any topic takes a really long time to get submitted. And the United board is excruciatingly slow, now failing to even load and failing with a site-not-found error. What is it with the United board in particular that consistently makes for such problems?
