Where are the new posts?

Dovster Jul 24, 2008 9:03 am

For the past 6 hours or so, the following has been the case when you make a new post:

1. A notification of your post is sent, as usual, to those subscribed to the thread.

2. Your post appears on the thread.

3. If you look at "My FlyerTalk" there is no indication that your post was ever made.

4. If you go directly to the list of threads on a particular forum, your post does not appear. The only way to know if a thread has new posts is to click on the thread itself.

5. For some reason, if you try to quote the latest post (as I did with planeluvr's), the quotation does not appear.

Nicely compiled identification of the issues Dovster :)

The problems you experienced were caused by a syncing issue between two of our servers. Should be fixed and back to normal now.

Time out...

Not sure it's just a FT hiccup or another "problematic" FT evening.

I was trying to reply to a thread 3 minutes ago but got the "time out" warning after hitting "submit.' I opened another browser window and made sure my new post was not registered. Then I went back to my original browser window and resubmit. This time it went through without any delay.

Just want to check in and see if FT is running OK in the back room. :)

Edit to add:
In the last two hours, I've running 5 "FT Network Timeout" warnings when submitting posts or doing search. :(

Timing out too. Performance is sloooow...

Very slow tonight.

cblaisd Aug 13, 2008 11:06 pm

Intermittently so here too.

Does FT have different servers for different parts of the world? I haven't been experiencing any delays at all today.

AFAIK no (and I too have not experienced speed issues on FT today). It's been speculated before that ads differ by location so may be some ad that attempts to load (even for those like me on FT premium) slowing FT down?

I'll ask our tech team to look into this.

For the most part very slow. Calling it a day:mad:

I've been reading the comments for the last couple days and have expected to see a website slowdown. But FT is zipping right along and I've have had zero speed issues. And, believe me, I've lived through the gut-wrenchingly slow issues of the recent past.

If location has anything to do with this, I'm posting from my usual Southern CA location.

Getting lots of timeouts here in Boston.

cblaisd Aug 14, 2008 11:44 am

About one in three clicks on an FT link lead to an immediate timed-out/can't find result.

This makes for lots of possibilities of dup posts as well ;)
