From what I understand, the Ignore User function will block POSTS (not PMs) from the users on your list.

But, if the user is also the OP of a new thread, I'm guessing the software wants you to still be able to see the thread (because it might be full of posts from non-ignored posters you like), so original threads by ignored users are still visible to you. Likely this is the desired behavior and you may just have to "manually ignore" (haha) them.

I am having to do a "manual ignore" on this, just wanted to know if it was technically possible. When downloading on a phone it means using lots of data downloading as there is so much signal-to-noise from this user clogging the pages!

I suppose I should ask for this as a new feature suggestion ;)

Yes, tried that! no response.

Yes, so frustrating. :(

I wish something like this would take place soon. The sooner, the better! ;)

ETA: Some changes are happening. :)

Ditto, I'd love a block feature for phpBB also to stop an ignored User's seeing any of my posts as well as blocking any PM activity between the 2.

Block user comment? [Using Ignore List master thread]

Hello all

I was curious, is there a button on this forum where I can click it to block all public comments for a certain user? I have experienced many immature users with personal attacks which is unrelated to some threads, so I was curious if such button existed to avoid wasting my time reading irrelevant/immature comments from some users in public threads.

Thanks in advance :)

Click on a member's user ID (in blue) in any of the forum threads and a menu will appear. The last option is "add [username] to Ignore list"

Thanks a lot :)

I would add that personal attacks are prohibited by FlyerTalk Rules. Also, posts that are too far off-topic, excessively argumentative and otherwise disruptive to a thread may constitute rules violations.

All of those types of posts should be reported to moderators for appropriate action.

I'd reserve the ignore button for those few members whom you might personally find annoying, but who aren't technically violating any rules or disrupting the overall flow of the discussion.

Unfortunately the mods at the emirates forums are not taking "appropriate action." The worst action I have seen from mods for personal attacks against me was just deleting these personal comments.......

You actually can't know that, because communications such as warnings and the like between moderators and members are also protected by privacy rules.

But discussing moderator actions is also against the Rules. My recommendation would be to communicate directly with the Emirates forum moderators (Zol and eightblack)if you have questions of how they might be handling Rules violations; failing that, you can communicate with the Community Director, as provided by the Rules:

18. Discussion of Moderator Actions - link to this Rule

Moderators value your private views and feedback related to their actions and duties. You may submit appropriate feedback to moderators by private message or e-mail. Do not post comments about moderator decisions or actions, or about the work of moderators, unless a moderator has invited members to post feedback in a particular thread.

Any concerns about the actions of a moderator should be directed exclusively and privately to the Community Director.

With all due respect and not commenting on the OP's issues, I had an issue with moderator action (or inaction) and did send all of the pertinent information to the Community Director - twice. I never even received a response to either message, not even an acknowledgement. So I understand the frustration when trying to stay within the rules and not discuss moderator actions but when there is no other recourse and the only avenue available is ignored, what is one to do?

I'd recommend PM e-mailing the Community Director one more time; I've not seen that kind of communication ignored myself, though I've seen acknowledgements, referrals to the Moderator Appeals and Peer Panel and denials of requests.

This happened over the span of Jan-Feb, 2013 so I have long since let it go. But the fact that I never even received a response to my two PM's to the CD was very disappointing. It left me feeling that, unless you are one of the 'insiders' or in the inner circle, you aren't worthy of a response. I only commented because sometimes you try to do everything right, stay within the rules, not comment publicly and report issues through the proper channels and, when you don't get a response, it is frustrating. Again, not commenting on the OP's specific case, just my own experience in trying to do things the right way.

With all due respect, but if the mods were indeed taking appropriate actions, then personal attacks towards me would not be popping up in threads where I participate in...... You should have seen them yourself but the mods decided to delete these comments..... Not really sure if they even sent them a warning or not!

Again, you will not know that. I've outlined the next possible courses of action, so now it's your choice how to proceed. Posting about moderator actions is not one of those choices.
