I now have the light bulbs again for the first time in many weeks. And I thought my UserName ID was now popping up automatically when I sign on, so part of the patch may be working. However, when I signed back on later in the day to see if things were still on the mend, I found that my ID was still not coming up automatically afterall.

My apologies for having taken so long to get back with all of you. I needed to let you know that I spent most of last week in bed due to some illness and the planned upgrade didn't come off as expected...I deeply apologize for having let you all down and I will do everything in my power to rectify this as soon as our busy schedule permits.
In the meantime please continue to bear with us throught this painful time and thank you very much for your continued patience. ------------------ ThanX... Michael at WebFlyer |
(With apologies to Thin Lizzy):
THE BULBS ARE BACK IN TOWN!! Thanks for the upgrade. |
Still no automatic UserName, etc. But wow! All these new bells and whistles, and message icons (albeit, I haven't quite figured what each is supposed to mean), and... No more semi-anonymity either: We're laid out there in all our naked ID splendor! (I know the info was always there if one clicked on the appropriate icon. This way it just seems a little more, er, revealing.)

well ... the cookie problem remains the same as before for me too. I use Netscape 4.7 (US-Macintosh-version) on my Apple.

still the same cookie problem with netscape 4.7 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

The upgrade seems to have worked for me (Netscape 4.7 for Windows). Here's how I got it to work:
1. At top of FlyerTalk page, click Preferences. 2. At top of Preferences page click the link that says Delete Cookies Set By This Forum. 3. After you delete the cookies you'll be asked if you now want to set new Preferences. Click the appropriate link. 4. Set your new preferences. 5. Go to the Main FlyerTalk page and hit Reload or Refresh to make sure the date and time come up ok. 6. Now log off and restart your computer. 7. Everything should work now. Good Luck. I became an serial addicted killer of FlyerTalk cookies in these last months.
But finally, after this last upgrade, it works now. using Macintosh version of Netscape 4.7 (US). |
In the past my user name and password has always appeared automatically when I was replying. It no longer automatically appears.
I've tried all of Premex's tips, but alas, I still have to enter my username and password each time. Now I realize that in the whole scheme of life this is but a minor annoyance, but it'd sure be nice to have this happen automatically like it used to. ------------------ Robert Johnson danville 1K |
Hmmmmm....very disappointing! I had hoped that this recent upgrade would do the trick. The upgrade went so well that I knew we had the problem licked.
Suffice it to say that I'll get right back on it and let UBB know that we continue to have problems and ask them what we can do about it. In the mean time hand tight for another go round and I'll let you know that outcome asap. ------------------ ThanX... Michael at WebFlyer |
Michael, this is even more bizarre/interesting.....
I reset the cookies & preferences last night and all seemed to work OK. Signed on this morning & had bulbs/folders/name/password working fine (Netscape 4.7). Now at 3:20pm PST, no bulbs or folders BUT my name & password were held by the cookies & came up when I posted this message. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif [This message has been edited by shadow (edited 02-04-2000).] |
It's all working fine again with Netscape... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif

I too am having intermittent problems. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I use Netscape.
|
OK, OK, is this a test? Am I on Candid Camera?
I've reset my preferences/cookies 4 times in the last 2 days. Most recently, the font got much smaller than ever before, and I didn't touch my Netscape Preferences, only FT. Guess I'll go back to IE until it's fixed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif |
There are some strange interactions still. I was fiddling around trying to see how the personal info is updated to the left. It appears that even though you update your profile to include new info, it will not show up in the left hand column of past posts until you make a new post.
