I have no vote, but I'm certainly in favor of this forum. Can't think of one good reason it shouldn't exist.

EY has morphed over the past few years to become a much more dominant player in the region. You are now seeing it take a market share (read customers) in many more markets.
I do support the inclusion of a forum for Etihad airlines at the earliest date.

I favor the creation of an EY forum. This is an airline that has clearly grown, and has a significant presence on FT.
While thousands of forums could be an issue, having clear forums for specific airlines fosters a better environment - allows people to know where to post and look for information; creates a form of a community for the EY FFs online...

And a +1 from me as well for knowing very little about EY but as you mention, 64% is a significant portion and with that, I'm voicing an approval for a new forum.

I'm in favor of an EY forum with the increase in information/posts concerning it in the OEFFP forum.

There are standards and policies regarding new forums..
If an airline meets the new forum requirements, it has my support..

But there are rules and policies on FT that has been established.. and to win the support of the TalkBoard to authorize a new forum, consensus amongst the members need to be achieved.. so its not just my vote.. That means a thorough and truthful analysis of current policy, data, research, other forum comparables for comparison.. getting reasons to approve this new forum.. and consensus build amongst the TalkBoard members..
Serving currently on 13 other boards.. ime being pompous isn't going to get me anywhere.. doing my homework, research, and presenting in a thorough manner to other members.. it almost becomes a no brainer by the end of the process.. where a vote is less than 5% of the work, but the process involved comprises the other 95%+.. If the current format doesn't work.. revisit at a a different angle..
You have my commitment to bring to a head, this new forum issue if elected to TalkBoard.. My vote is currently in favor.. as in general I favor new airline forums created to better serve the member needs of FlyerTalk..
Just as the TalkBoard Members who are stalwart against this new forum.. I hope I can set an example of being open minded to different ideas.. and being reasonable in the decisions that need to be addressed if elected..
Also, from an election standpoint, its important to represent to the best of my abilities, those who choose to give me their vote.. Its a public service, and thorough homework needs to be done to get the rest of the Talkboard on side..

Creation of this forum ought to have been another slam-dunk no-brainer.

To be honest, I think each airline should have its own forum..

Every airline should have it's own forum? There's a reason that's not the case here. A forum for IZ would get virtually no traffic, and would be too costly for FT to maintain. Remember, FT makes its money off advertisements. If an IZ forum has no traffic, no one will pay money to advertise there.
FlyerTalk is about Flying.. If I'm looking for a particular airline and its not there, then I'm wondering how relevant the site would be..
Its like when I went to get some Alamo codes early on.. there was no forum for it.. I said what?
But, aside from my opinion.. rules and policies have been developed for new forums.. and its important to absorb the perspectives, conduct surveys, research.. basically do the proper homework..

I think an EY forum would be a good idea. Their recent tie-ups with AA and VA show they are wanting to expand and offer better services to frequent flyers. A single EY forum would make it easier for FlyerTalkers to find answers to their questions regarding flying on EY and might make it more easier for EY as an airline to engage with FlyerTalkers.

I agree fully with above post. It would be nice to ask EY specific questions on its own forum from people who know most about the airline in question.
Otherwise these post get burried elsewhere and are more difficult to find.

Do you feel it does on this instance? And if not, do you think it should?
