Doesn't "FT Posting Legend" already exist for those with 40,000 posts?

my .02:
As a newbie, I wouldn't to see the titles removed. I know that wasn't the point of the OP but someone did mention it. I like to see how 'active' someone is when I'm lurking for info or posting for input. Maybe I think someone who posts alot is going to be more helpful or at least knowledgeable (I know that's necessarily true.)
And if I read something a little on the gruff side and then I see that the grump has 1 bazillion posts, I think s/he is just a little cranky today.
btw, I'm just posting this so I can boost my post count. Got to get to 90 to get into Omni cuz I hear that's where all the fun is.

I know of one FlyerTalk Legend and one FlyerTalk Posting Legend. Are there others?
That's where FlyerTalk Obsessive (referenced above) kicks in......
Glad you weighed in here, alief, and thanks for your comments.
But you're going to be disappointed when you hit 90 posts and OMNI doesn't appear.
And you might be just as disappointed when you hit 180 posts and it does appear but that's a topic for another thread.....

The analogy with platinum/gold status is not useful as those designations are dynamic, are awarded in many ways (eg, by challenge or status match), and carry tangible benefits.
I don't see much point in a static title attached to post count level, especially considering that post counts are visible in the forums anyway.
However, anyone should feel free to adopt any title they wish in the signature line.

Thank you
I agree, the focus on post count encourages redundant posts and pointless comments. Sifting through them makes finding the useful information increasingly time-consuming on this site.

"IF" TB decided to do something about this proposal, PLEASE don't make the number of post counts anything more than just counting. As far as I know, the current system counts one post when there's a post in any eligible forum. That's simply numeric (unless our TB wants to make FT post counts something more than post counts, of course
). I can hardly catch up with all the new forum proposals and status games in FT already. I rather not to see another counting game starting. Or I think I will lose my ability to count pretty soon.
Except, if it means the House of Miles will send some FT goodies to me when my post count meter reaches certain number, I will be more than happy to accept it. Just let me know who I should PM my mailing address to.
