Proposal: New title for midrange posters.

Currently, there is only 1 title attainable when you reach the 10,000 post mark called "Flyertalk Evangelist". If reaching the status of "Flyertalk Evangelist" is equivalent of Platinum status, why not also give away Gold and Silver?
Here is what I propose:
For 5000 posts, you can attain the status of "Flyertalk Elite"

For 2000 posts, you can attain the status of "Flyertalk Novice"

Now, it doesn't exactly have to follow my titles, however I think giving members attainable status is a good promo.

I don't see why not.

Let's not mention the war. ;)

Oh great, another thread about post counts. Let the fractious debate begin again in earnest. Sorry for sounding somewhat flippant but I just can't see a real need for more titles on FT.

I sort of agree with this philosophy...

It used to be that one was given "FT Evangelist" at 250 posts (maybe 500?).

I'd actually like to see the titles removed. Frankly, on a forum like FT, it leads to "posting runs."

Yup, it was 250 posts for at least several months after I joined FT.

I think it would be fun to allow posters to choose their user title from prefixes listed on the AAdvantage program signup page. ;)

I'd rather not encourage posting for the sake of posting to get a title. If one appears after X posts, great. If not, c'est la vie.

I agree with the posts above. I remember the 250 threshold also. I would be for doing away with all titles gained by post counts.

Yeah!

You know what someone should do? Someone should come up with a way to give a title based on a poster's history of being a welcoming and helpful poster instead of simply counting posts.....@:-)

;)

I volunteer for this role!

Maybe it should be a revenue generation system for RP - charge people $5 to buy a custom title for themselves, and $10 to buy a title for someone else. That could be interesting. :D

I don't think that's a hot idea either, but other boards do it that way. The problem there is making sure people take "appropriate" titles.

Sounds like a perfect role for the TB. Oh, wait... :D
