What would a thread about OMNI be without an OMNI-esque observation:
Speaking of French, those inhabiting the isle of Great Britain normally do a much better job of pronouncing French in everyday speech than we Merkins do. Just listen to us use words like "niche" and "croissant."
Well, except for the word "filet" which somehow got mangled into "fillet."

Which begs the question - are you calling me a liar?
What possible proof do you have that I have not told the whole truth? Please, I'd like to hear it, since that's a pretty serious accusation. But since I also know that is the whole truth (and I'm in the best position to know), I fully expect an apology from you, since you cannot possibly have any proof to the contrary.

I cannot stop you thinking something so completely incorrect - but I'm extremely disappointed that you would make such an accusation on the basis of no proof whatsoever
I might be an elected representative, I don't believe that my patience should extend to people making libellous statements about me on the basis of no more than their feelings. And nor are you even questioning me - you are making statements about my behaviour, not asking me about my behaviour.
So I ask you again - where is your proof? If you cannot prove such an accusation, then I suggest you withdraw it immediately.

No proof, just a pattern of voting and possible voting (mentioned in your first post) that shows an inconsistency not well enough explained away by your second post in this thread. Not to me, anyway, which is inherently meaningless in the whole vastness of FT. I'd say that I'm sorry that you got offended, but that's the kind of apology I've grown used to from American politicians and I won't insult your intelligence with such tripe.
I will not revise my remarks beyond this, however. I am going to let the whole thing drop with the end of this post (at least until some formal proposal is in play).
EDIT: OK, so I lied. I am going to edit this post. I do not think you are a liar, no. You are too civil and, well, honest to be called a liar. I think you are being inconsistent (which could give that appearance) and that stems from my disagreement with you over the VX issue. If you want to vote against post counts in OMNI, great, but I don't think there's a huge difference between that vote coming up again and the VX vote coming up again. YMM (and does, apparently) vary.

I think OMNI is just too big, and it's time to move some of the threads out of there. Short of starting OMNI Politics, or OMNI Religion, OMNI Games seems a good place to start, and a number of threads could easily be moved over there. It's similar to the situation of the General Travel forum when I first started on FT. It got too big and was split off into other forums.

It appears I failed to do my research, and for that I *do* owe Jen an apology along with an apology for any ill feelings I've caused.
The motion failed. Jen voted against it. To be consistent, that's what she would do again and for some reason I applied a double negative in a weird way and assumed she supported the motion the first time around. She probably wonders why I'm arguing with her in the first place.
Also, that motion was in April, apparently, which certainly isn't the same time scale as the VX forum. It was so hot and heavy back then I could've sworn it was sometime around October when we were arguing bitterly over the subject, not in early Spring. Time flies.
What this has taught me, mainly, is to read and search before I run in shooting my mouth off. Of course, I have been avoiding the search lately....
So I'll go move the latest batch of snow and walk away from the computer. If I'm not sitting here I won't be able to make a fool of myself.

Do you know when we voted on the OMNI post count issue? The vote concluded in early April. 10 months ago. Do you know the separation between the two VX votes? 5 weeks - of which two were the period of the vote, so in actuality, there were 3 weeks between the votes. To me, there's a really rather large difference between re-voting something 3 weeks apart when nothing on the board has had time to change and re-voting something 10 months apart, which is quite a while in the life of FT.
I don't think I'm being inconsistent with being comfortable with a 10 month gap, while objecting to a 3 week gap - YMMV. But I am NOT lying about what I think on this issue.
To move back from history to the question at hand and answer Tom911's question, as an OMNI-ite who doesn't often play games, I can completely see the arguments in favour of an OMNI games forum. Unfortunately, when put to the OMNI-ites themselves in a couple of threads (both in ORP and in OMNI itself), there was a very lukewarm reception to the idea.

Now if you'd said that in the first place, I wouldn't have had an issue. But when I am nothing but honest about my feelings and why I do something, to have someone turn around and accuse me of lying makes me very mad - and makes me wonder why the heck i put myself up for this kind of personal abuse.

Just out of curiosity, what momentous and life-changing threads are the OWOT/Games threads getting in the way of? Perhaps there's an easier way of approaching the "problem," with only three simple steps, namely:
1. Permanent sticky of the Swingers Thread.
2. Permenent sticky for "Miscellaneous" (mostly potty humor)
3. Sticky-of-the-month for the most recent OMNIcon/lib baiting thread/topics.
That should pretty-much cover it, no?

how dare you ask such irrelevant questions Mr. Otter! TalkBoard has things like smilies and protocol on voting too early after elections to contemplate.

Let's keep this thread objective, and friendly. It's starting to vector off course.
