The Talkboard....

With the busy period of the Freddies behind us this might be a good time to once more look at the Talkboard... From what I see there hasn't been any discussion in that board for several months. Can we expect elections soon or have the moderators taken over the task the Talkboard has/had?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Scott

Dont know if this is the right place ... but what if I want to vent, oh i mean discuss an airline (Finnair) not listed? Can it be added or is there a general page I am just not seeing?

Also, are there pages related to the various airline alliances?

Thanks, look forward to being an active participant as I have so many experiences travelling!

Welcome to FT, you were right that it's not the right place, don't worry though, here are some links to get you started:

European Carriers (includes Finnair)

If you scroll down on the FT Miles main page you'll find the various airline alliances.

the tech group did in fact get back up all the tech needed for a new general election for new board members a few months back and with some other obstacles in my way (not the Board) i wasn't able to get back to them (the tech guys) and get a new election scheduled. As you have very keenly observed, perhaps now is a better time. I think we are looking to elect 4 new members to the Board. More on this next week.

Thanks for the nudge, they are taken with the intended purpose and needed and always welcome.

Good to hear this is back on the table Randy.

IIRC the only election was held about 2 years back? So are those 4 members to be now popularly elected to replace 4 retiring current members, whomever those chosen 4 may be?

As there are only three 'voted-in' Members remaining on TB now AFAIK, can one assume all of those 3 are resigning and also one of the appointees? Or will it be a different mix of 4 current members to get the "staggered" effect?

It seems clear from the TB Guidelines below the current Talk Board themselves were to replace the 7 previously resigned from office TB members as well :

Rudi
Punki
SVPII
Dorian
BlondeBomber
chexfan
Goldlust

I never read who TalkBoard chose to replace the 7 above, and many of them have resigned WELL over a year ago now IIRC. May we also know who were chosen to be their replacements? It may well have been posted before by existing TB members - and apologies if I missed seeing it.

http://www.flyertalk.com/townhall/tb_guidelines.shtml

Term of Membership

TB Member

The term of a TB member shall be one (1) year with approximately two thirds of the board members being elected each year.

Member shall not serve two (2) consecutive terms with the exception of any Founding Members as selected by FT Management in the founding year.

The Founding Members are the members of the 2001-2002 TB. The purpose of this exception is to allow for staggered TB Membership going forward.

TB Officers

The term of a TB Officer shall be one (1) year.

Resignation/Termination

A vacancy in the TB shall be declared if a member:

Resigns

A vacancy in the TB shall be filled by appointment by the TB, for the remaining unexpired term. The TB will use the election results from the latest election to determine eligible candidates.

Hi Randy,

Is there any update on the voting process and when we can start applying for a position on the Talkboard?

Thanks,

Scott

Ozstamps,

Please e mail Randy with your request.
The above 'day' counting is not necessary IMHO.

I'm sure the boss will take care of this matter when he thinks the time is right; if ever.

No Dan, I posted it here as it is the official place for Talkboard business, and while I don't see the weekly day counter posts of any use, Randy commented, thanked me and said he'd have more in a week, this was almost 2 months ago. I am a businessman myself and understand that there are other priorities in life and business, I also understand that FT and the Talkboard are not a daily task Randy can devote a majority of his time too, but I do hope that when an official body like the Talkboard is setup to represent the members of FT that any important issues like a new election can be handled in a serious way. I still take the Talkboard very seriously and hope everyone else on FT does this too.
