It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

William: I tried emailing you but keep on getting an Elaine who I think works for you. She is actually the same person who told me in Sept I had 8 yrs Plat. Around 10/31 is when I requalifed for Plat so I don't understand why after qualifying this yr I wouldn't be at 10. It doesn't make sense and was hoping you could look into what is happening.
I relied on her email on 9/29 that I was at 8 yrs. Also on 4/24/2012 I was told I was at 8 yrs platinum by a different rep. So now I'm being told after requalifying this yr I'll be at 9 so it would mean 2 yrs of qualification = one yr of credit which doesn't make sense.

PLT years is obviously helpful, but what is useful about the number of elite years?

But now Plat years is most important. What bothers me is I have 2 emails from SPG saying 8 yrs and I called a bunch too (where they also said 8 yrs). So now this yr I'm still at 8 yrs which makes no sense. And they can't explain.
How could so many people be wrong last yr?

Anyway, we have received an email from our colleague who might have received your email intended to be sent to William.

My email went to [email protected]
Thank you for looking into this. It doesn't make sense I was told in April and Sept (by email and I have the original emails) that I had 8 yrs SPG Plat as well as on phone once or twice.
I like to check my progress with nights etc even being a bit away. Did the same with Marriott and now LT Platinum with them. In this case it turned out to be important as I planned to have my 10th yr this yr and strived to get as close to 500 as possible before anything might change.
Other people are reporting their counters aren't increasing so something is happening

Spoke with an SPG agent yesterday trying to secure a stay...
She told me I'm lifetime PLT. I told her I'm not, but lifetime GOLD.
We actually got in to an argument about it. She even gave me the date I supposedly became lifetime PLT.
My account shows gold.
Bizarre argument.

When I emailed them last Sept (before requalifying) this was the email. So the question still is when 2013 will post (which I earned by requalifying last yr). If not Mar 1, wonder when.
I am pleased to advise you are correct the lifetime Platinum requirements are 10 Years as a Platinum Elite member plus 500 Lifetime SPG nights. So far you have earned eight years and xxx nights towards the Lifetime Platinum requirements. If you earn your Platinum Elite this year it will leave one more year and xxx more nights to meet the requirements. We look forward to welcoming you as a Lifetime Platinum in the future.

Same boat here, seems like I was 8 years elite all last year and was expecting the counter to bump to 9 come January (I'm at 460 nights, have been Plat for a number of years now). But then someone on this thread said it will bump to 9 when you hit gold this year. Well, I hit gold this year on Sunday, and the points & nights from that recent stay are showing in my YTD but the Elite counter still shows 460 & 8 years elite. Agent today says it won't increment until I hit platinum this year.
Wish they could get this straight and accurate. Unfortunately, I'm not a pack rat and don't keep my records, so have to rely on SPG...

For what it's worth, I think the agent was correct. My counter increased by 1 when I requalified for Platinum a couple weeks ago.

I hit Gold three weeks ago, but have yet to hit Platinum, and my counter incremented sometime in the last two days - I spotted it this afternoon.
I've been PLT for 9 consecutive years. So I still think the counter for "years Elite" ticks over when you quality for "Elite", which is Gold, regardless of your current status.
It did take a few weeks for it to catch up through. Perhaps an end-of-quarter batch process? Or, just as the 2013 re-qualifying gift email just started going out, perhaps SPG doesn't believe anyone would actually re-qualify this quickly and holds off anything to do with re-qualifying (gift, year counter, etc.) until late March. Silly of them
(14 more nights this year, and 81 total, to go....)
