It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

I can confirm that there is a two tier qualification process to gain Lifetime Gold:
250 Lifetime Nights
and
5 years at the Gold elite level

Not only is it printed on the card, they're metal cards so that will make them unmistakably identifiable right there.

SPG Web Site
Wondering if the SPG Web Site will eventually show a breakdown of number of years as platinum in addition to number of years as elite?

LTG will be just an added vertical band on a regular Plat/Gold card. You can print them at spg.com/mycard. They, as usual, will in regular mail and that may take a while outside of North America especially. Lurkers promised metal LTP card delivered by Fedex after March 1st...

I am super excited about Lifetime status. Tragically for me, I will hit the 500 nights January of 2013, but won't have the 10 year qualification for 7 years. And that is assuming I maintain platinum for those 7 years. I was really hoping that one could get Lifetime based on just nights like an airline Million Mile program, but no such luck.
But I understand the additional requirement and still very stoked.

The requirement for lifetime Plat is ten Plat years and 500 NIGHTS not stays. Stays no longer mean anything for SPG unless you count PlatMinus renewal.

Sorry guys, but the SPG LT Status is just cheating!
I'm having Platinum status since 2001, so I'm in my 12th year, having more than 500 nights.
But I'm not getting LTP because from 2001 - 2004 I've been SPG Platinum due to my AMEX Centurion card. Now SPG says these years aren't counting.
Looking at the terms & conditions SPG say that who had Platinum status for 10 years (which I had), staying more than 500 nights (which I did) will never get below Platinum. There's no condition written "earned by nights/stays" Platinum years, there's nothing written like "Platinum years received due to CC or Status Match don't count"...
I think SPG is cheating to its loyal customers.
Does somebody have the same problem?
