It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

Await your confirmation on the above.
Very possible. I have e-mail form Plat. Liaison explicitly saying that I had 49 (sic!) nights in 2001, so I was Gold. Perhaps those you qualified by now for LTP had more than 25/50 in 99-02.

Because of this I can see in the next year or two Plat bar raising (40 stays -- 60 nights type of thing). That's why I want to get my LTP ASAP based on my previous record to avoid future disappointments. Whether it will be just Plat lite, Plat base, or even 2nd tier due to introduction of a higher tier at 100 nights is up to a speculation.

I think I said we'd sort this out and I'd get back to everyone:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/17979308-post250.html

If we can't agree on that interpretation, can we at least agree that we have a bit of time before March 1st rolls around to sort it out?

i really don't see that happening....with extra benefits now being added for 50, 75 & 100 nights, i think the plat requirements are going to remain at 25 stays / 50 nights for a while....

William, all these should have been sorted out before the announcement was made. There is way too many issues with the way Lifetime Platinum years have been calculated which leads me to wonder if the "total lifetime nights" are also accurate!

All I can offer is a quote from Robert Burns and my sincere apologies:

We are continuing to make attempts to give our associates a reliable way of answering your questions about where you stand, but it is clear that some additional work needs to be done in that area.

If you, or anyone else, want to send Thyetus, Christina or myself their account information we will make the attempt to provide a factual answer to any questions you may have. However, please realize that it requires extraordinary access to archival information that front line associates do not have access to and because this access is limited and there are many inquiries at the moment, the answer you are seeking may not be available immediately.

Dear William:

Thank you very much for your thoughtful reply and your offer to look into my account. I think you and your colleagues must have their hands full now in the lead up to March 1. I will be Platinum with or without the LTP status, so why don't I let things settle down before taking you up on your offer. This may all get worked out by then without the need to trouble you.

Nights vs. Platinum Status Question

Dear Starwood moderator,

My apologies if this question has been asked. I recently joined this forum and haven't checked ALL the postings yet. So, my apologies for possible redundancy in advance!

Here's my scenario/question...

I have maintained Platinum status for 7 consecutive years. During that time, I've stayed approximately 320 nights. Barring unforeseen circumstances, my travels will keep me Platinum the next 3+ years. However, due to my nature of travel, the 500 night level will not be reached within 10 years.

So, my question is this....can I be Platinum for 10+ years, but attain 500 nights over a 11-12 year period AND still qualify?

Thanks in advance.

Jason

The 10 yrs of Plat and 500 nights are minimum requirements.

I think you were directing the question at the Starwood Lurkers rather than the mods, but the answer is yes. Once you have met both criteria you'll get the LT status. You don't have to time it so that they are both reached in the same year.

two conditions must be met to gain Lifetime Platinum status
1) staying 500 nights
AND
2) 10 years as Platinum member.

staying 490 nights and being Platinum member for 18 years would not get you the Lifetime status. similarly staying 1000 nights and being platinum member for 8 years would not get you the Lifetime status.

hope that helps.

it's worth reiterating that this is a great new benefit. Whether someone had 45 or 50 stays in 1999 is of limited interest to most readers of this forum I would have thought. And the mind boggles as to the sort of person that would keep records of hotel stays that far back!
