1. Is it accurate that SNAs expire at the end of the year following the year in which they are earned? i.e. SNAs earned in late 2012 when a member hits 50 nights would expire 12/31/2013?
Yes.

2. Do the SNAs have to be entirely used before expiry (i.e. the hotel check-out date must be prior to expiry)...
Yes.

I apologize if answered - but in what order/priority are the SNA's filled, or in other words, I have a reservation booked for August already, for which I will likely want to use SNA's. Is there any reason to request now, or wait in case I want to use them elsewhere? Will I be "first in line" if I request 8 months out?

Right now tried to upgrade a 4 nights stay at the Le Meridien Beach Plazza Monaco, but wasn't able even though I have still 13 SNAs and the upgrade posibility was shown...

It allowed me to do it for you. Not sure why it could not be done online, but you can ask someone at the call center via phone or chat to do try this if it happens again.

Of course, if you really did not want to use SNA's for this reservation, let me know and I'll cancel them for you.

These are queued according to when you request them, so probably earlier would be better than later, IMHO.

Thanks William. I would like to upgrade to a Designer Suite and only to such one because of the seaside view. Not all Junior Suites do have seaview...

My upgrades with IC are generally far better than those with Starwood and much more dependable. On leisure trips I almost always want a suite and I can guarantee this with IC by booking an appropriate room category to be upgraded from or just booking a suite and knowing I will get a better one. Very rarely have I ever been upgraded from a suite booking with Starwood (I know it is not part of the programme) but this means I get pretty much zero benefit as a Plat booking a suite with SPG. This is why IC works for me so well and why they get high value stays rather than higher volume cheaper stays from me.

I have had 4 upgrades to tne Presidential Suite with IC in my 2 years as RA zero with Starwood in 7 years as a Plat.
Actually I've had two above and beyond upgrades from a suite to a much better suite during the last three months. At one hotel, which was close to sold out, I reserved a regular one bedroom suite (I would assume that this was their standard suite but I don't know) at an expensive AAA rate and was given a two-bedroom deluxe (corner with large balconies) suite with a nice view from the top floor. (I don't know whether this is the property's best suite, but it seems to be the highest category that can be booked on line.) At the other property, I used a SNA and was immediately confirmed into the highest category suite (a very nice one) that can be selected for a SNA but was upgraded into a larger and better suite with a huge and attractive foyer, a dining area, and an office. It was fun and a very nice surprise at check in.

As a Platinum booking 2 rooms, is it possible to use the Suite Night Award on one room and have the standard Platinum upgrade be applied to the other room that I did not use the Suite Night Award on?

You would have to apply it to the room reservation that you do not intend to occupy, but yes, as long as you will be staying as well, this is possible as long as both rooms are on their own reservation.

I am not saying it doesn't happen I am however saying as we all know that there is no way that it can be relied upon and on 99% of occasions I have booked a suite I get what I have booked and no more with Starwood.

However with IC I can pretty much depend on a minimum 1 category upgrade and often 2 categories or more, regardless what room type I book.

That is a pretty fundamental difference.

I wondering if such a thing has ever actually happened. Given how reluctant most places are to upgrade these days, if you had two rooms and one was already upgraded what are the changes they would give you the other one? I know in theory they have to give you one if one is "available", but we know how slippery that term can be.
