It is actually a very poor response. A very good response would have been "that is a very good question for which I don't have the answer" But the sin of ending a sentence with a preposition and a redundant one at that - please don't eulogise that [/QUOTE]
A preposition is not a good thing to end a sentence with.

Looks like William pulled through and was able to work everything out for my pending SNAs. ^^

Cash & Points has both black-out dates and capacity controls while standard awards do not. If you are seeing rooms for sale online that are on the standard award rate plan, then there is a technical issue that needs to be addressed or they have failed to close out their DAILY rate plans appropriately.

If my brother in law uses his points to make a reservation for me (either a free night or cash and points) is it possible for me to use my suite night awards to upgrade the reservation?

Sure, if he is also traveling...
18.Can I give Suite Night Awards as a gift or transfer them to someone else?
Your Suite Night Awards are for your use only. You may not sell, gift or transfer them. However, if you’re traveling with family and require two rooms, you may request a Suite Night Award upgrade for both rooms as long as you have enough Suite Night Awards to cover all nights for each room. Please note that both rooms must be confirmed under the name of the recipient of the Suite Night Award, and the recipient must stay in one of the rooms.
Otherwise, YMMV.

My contacts at SPG corporate have a differing point of view than Marcus.
Let's see what happens overnight when the next SNA sweep is done. It could be that the hotel is having inventory issues. If the Fantastic Suite is available to sell when it is run again, then the SNA's will go through.
In the meantime, I'll see what I can work through on this end, but Marcus is definitely wrong about the hotels having any say in this other than selecting the suites for SNA's.

While I don't use the SNAs much, I decided to try one out on an upcoming stay. My understanding of how this works is the suite upgrade - if available - which it is - should have been captured 5 days out. Or four. Or three.
I am now two days out. The suite I selected is still absolutely bookable online. I just checked again a few minutes ago. And yet my SNA is still 'pending'.

Regardless, I do think there must something out of synch.

"that is a very good question for which I don't have the answer to".
Back on topic to counterbalance some of the negative reports, I have had success with the suite nights at the Westin Gaslamp in San Diego for a two night stay. At 5 days I received an email with a confirmed upgrade to a quite large suite with a nice balcony. I have another two requested for next weekend in Denver. I am personally a fan of having the option and it looks like it mostly works aside from some small quirks that are being addressed.

I'm afraid I never got my Suite Night issue resolved and wound up cancelling in Los Cabos
There was availability at 5 days out, acknowledged by a supervisor at SPG Platinum. Unfortunatey they did not do anything about it
After a series of unstaisfying calls yesterday, in which I had at least three different versions of what should/has happened, it turns out that there is no longer any availability.
So the system didnt work and SPG Plat desk didnt address it in time to make it right
This is the first time I have tried to use these things. Given the lack of understanding at SPG on how they work, they dont seem to be very useful

Hi, as there are many hotels that do not provide "suite night" benefit, is there a way to find out if it will be possible before actually making the booking?
