Which brands do you frequent?

Just curious which Starwood brands FlyerTalkers tend to frequent. Of course it depends on what brands are available where you happen to travel, but I think it's still interesting. For the three years we've been platinum, our breakdowns (both paid and award) are listed below. Looks like we're pretty "mainstream".

Code:
                      2011 | 2010 | 2009
nights stays | nights stays | nights stays
Westin 47% 52% | 28% 34% | 25% 28%
Sheraton 33% 30% | 26% 24% | 38% 42%
Luxury Collection 8% 6% | 9% 10% | 8% 8%
Le Méridien 6% 9% | 16% 14% | 23% 17%
St. Regis 6% 3% | 12% 3% | 4% 3%
Four Points -- -- | 7% 10% | 2% 3%
W -- -- | 2% 3% | -- --
Aloft -- -- | -- -- | -- --
Element -- -- | -- -- | -- --

In an average year, I'm probably about 70% Westin, 25% Sheraton and 5% Le Meridien with perhaps one or two nights a year at a W or St. Regis.

All of our stays are paid on our own dime.

If I am booking the itinerary: Four Points, Aloft, and then look to the other brands, particularly if I am traveling in the US or Canada. In other countries, I'll entertain the other brands first starting by researching the least expensive option.

If my husband books: He starts with Luxury Collection then moves to W, Westin, Le Meridien and will settle for Sheraton if that's all that can be found in that city. Of course he goes in opposite order of me - the stays are usually paid for out of my pocket so he doesn't think twice about cost until I make him!

St. Regis hasn't made his list yet only because we haven't stayed in a city where it was an option. I wonder how many years I can hold out on that one...

Westin is my default (and I like them a lot), always excited when I have a chance to do a W or LM though.

Sheraton typically my last resort or if the $ cost for the above is likely to be a bit too much for my clients.

LCs are a special vacation treat!

This is over the last year:

Sheraton: 25% stays, 25% nights
Aloft: 19% stays, 22% nights
W: 19% stays, 16% nights
Westin: 19% stays, 9% nights
Le Meridien: 13% stays, 22% nights
Four Points: 6% stays, 6% nights

I would definitely consider myself a Westin kind of guy, though. Nice enough to make me feel comfortable, but not too much to make me feel uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I did not really figure this out until later on.

Future pre-booked stays include two Westins (WDW Swan, Orlando Imagine), a Luxury Collection (Royal Hawaiian), a St. Regis (Atlanta, Princeville), a Le Meridien (LPM/Manhattan), and an Aloft (Birmingham). I used to like the idea of the W hotels (and I still do), but they sometimes remind me of how I felt when I once visited a Kenneth Cole outlet store. I recently cancelled a planned trip to the Westin Poinsett in Greenville, SC after realizing the would-be fun trip to see the Clemson-Auburn game was ruined by the idea of a noon kickoff.

Le Meridien for more than 90% of my stay over the last 2 years. The rest is Westin, Sheraton, Fourpoints and St Regis.

Approximately 130 work-related stays over the past 4 years and they were all Sheraton.

My non-work stays during that same time have been 1 LC, 2 St. Regis, 1 W, 1 Four Points, and 4 Sheraton. I have 2 additional St. Regis stays reserved for the next couple of months.

With us, it's simply a question of location. Even when there is more than one Starwood hotel in city, they're usually in different places. If not, we look at price versus quality and the chances for upgrade (as reported in Flyertalk). But we definitely try to avoid the W brand whenever possible as we don't like having the shower and bathroom sink out in the open in the middle of the bedroom. That strikes us as very low class; the sort of thing you would see in a hotel that rents by the hour rather than by the night, and is really a place for a good deal of quick rotation activity.

4 points or Sheraton 50/50. Might have something to do with the fact I travel exclusively outside the US for business.

Approximately:

Sheraton - 40%
4 Pts - 30%
LM - 20%
Westin - 10%

Because of my work patterns, nearly all of my 4Pts & LM stays are at one particular property respectively. Two properties account for about 75% of my Sheraton stays.

I probably have more "nights" at Westins, relative to "stays", because I tend to frequent a couple of Westin resorts on a regular basis, usually for 5-8 nights at a time.

Cheers,

FP 10%
Aloft 10%
LM 10%
LC 5%
