The Elite Thank You program ended on December 31, 2017. You have until June 30, 2018, to award your Thank You certificates to SPG associates.

A great way to say thanks -

You expect and deserve outstanding service from SPG®. So when an associate goes above and beyond to make your stay, it’s nice to have a special way to express your thanks.

That’s what Elite Thank You certificates are all about. Print yours now to make the day of every deserving SPG associate who receives one.

Remember: All SPG associates and customer care agents are eligible to receive Elite Thank You certificates. Enjoy giving them — and we’ll keep looking for ways to earn them.

From T&C :"however, the certificates cannot be used as a form of bribery or fraud, nor may the certificates be sold in any manner"

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is an Elite Thank You?
It's a certificate that an elite member can use to recognize a Starwood associate who provided outstanding service, whether in person or over the phone.

How do I get Elite Thank You certificates?
Please visit spg.com/elitethankyou to download and print your certificates.

Who is eligible to receive an Elite Thank You?
All Starwood associates in Customer Contact Centers or hotels that participate in the Starwood Preferred Guest® program are eligible, including but not limited to associates at the front desk, reservations line, concierge desk, bellhop service, restaurants, housekeeping, fitness centers, business centers and so forth. To give a certificate over the phone, just tell the associate you'd like to give him or her an Elite Thank You, then provide the unique code on the certificate.

Can I give multiple Elite Thank You certificates to a single person?
Yes.

Can I get more Thank You certificates?
Members are eligible to request certificates when they renew or upgrade their elite status. No additional certificates can be requested.

How long are the Elite Thank You certificates valid?
Please see your certificates for the expiration date.

On my account I see 8 certificates, all expiring Dec 2017.

I don't know whether these are 8 new ones granted for 2017, or 4 new ones for 2017 plus 4 from 2016 that have had their expiry date extended from 2016 into 2017. FWIW, I haven't used any of my 2016 allocation yet.

If the expiry dates from 2016 have indeed been extended, I'm hoping that the expiry dates of the unique codes on these have also been extended, to ensure there's no embarrassment caused if an expired 2016 code is given to an associate in 2017.

I can confirm the 2017 certificates are new and not the 2016 certificates with an extended expiry date.

Before I lost online access to the 2016 certificates, I printed one but did not give out yet. The code starts with 0751. My 2017 certificates start with 1798. Strange thing is the three 2017 certificates that I have accessed all have the same code...I hope that just indicates that the code has been redeemed by an employee.

Platinum liason has requested a screenshot to show that I do not have access to the certs...that expire in 16 days.

I am also showing 8 Elite Thank You certificates, all for 2017 and all starting with 199. I have no 2016 certificates showing and have not used any this year.

It's in the wiki and someone mentioned it a few posts before yours.

I am happy to report that with the help of SPG Lurkers, I have received the 2016 certificate numbers which can be given to staff for redemption. So online access to the 2016 certs in pdf is long gone but I know a few staff I can give these via email before December 31.

after a first canned response, and basically explaining the situation again in greater detail the below was the response. Looks like we were assigned the 2017 certs ahead of 2017? Perhaps usage spikes end of year and SPG was trying to cut costs (points)?
And all I'm looking to do is reward great customer service.. I've filed another ticket and will keep this thread updated. Maybe the lurkers can help?

Thank you for contacting Starwood Preferred Guest regarding your Elite Thank You certificates. It will be my pleasure assisting one of our most valued Platinum members.

Once you are assigned new Elite Thank You certificates, you cannot access or gain access to your old certificates, unless you have already downloaded and printed or received via mail. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

I suggest you email: [email protected]

Platinum Concierge was unable to help (I never even realized there was a difference until this experience).

It took about 5 weeks from first contact with Plat Liason until I received the 2016 certificate numbers. The info came from Program Services but you will need a Lurker or Liaison to contact them.

Good luck!

After using these at multiple locations and receiving the same confused reaction from each associate whom I've presented with one, from Florence to Dresden to Aspen to Kyoto I have reached the same conclusion.

So it would be too late to initiate contact now in order to award some unused certificates, since, IIRC the 2016 certificates expire 12/31/16.

I printed and handed out 4 certificates. I now want to print my last four but I can't tell which ones I've already used! Is there any way to find out? Where do I call?

???? Not sure.

I've found the best way to keep track is to print all of them at one time and only one time. That way I know when I've used one. I keep them in an envelope alongside my AA thank you certificates.

I totally forgot about these and didn't get any last year and just remembered them now. I logged in and got my 2017 to give away.
