What's the Star Alliance Gold Lounge in Dubai like?
I'll be flying from DXB to FRA on December 8th with Lufthansa and I'm just wondering if anyone has any recent experience in relation to the lounge situation at DXB.
I have recently read poor reviews of the Lufthansa lounge in DXB (I've yet to see a decent LH lounge - hopefully I'll be a little more impressed by the FCT in FRA) and it would appear that this is the Star Alliance Gold lounge as well.
I thought I'd read somewhere that there was a new Star Gold lounge in DXB but I can't find anymore information to suggest this at present.
I'd be grateful for any insights as what I can expect there for the 3.45am departure if anyone has had any recent visits.
Thanks in advance ^

It is the Lufthansa lounge, although the external signage is now all star alliance. It still has a F section available to *Gs. Food varies according to time of day and which airline is departing. But usually sandwiches and the usual snacks. In the F side I recall they also had a cheese board and Lanson Champagne.
Airport has free wifi that defaults back to the airport homepage periodically.
Not a great lounge but not bad place to wait for your flight. Hope this helps.

I'm not wild about the lounge especially at 3:00am when my flight was delayed 3.5 hours. The chairs are not great for sleeping in and I eventually moved to the floow to try to sleep.
It's fairly small as well

I strongly suggest the Diner's Club lounge Dubai. It's actually free for anyone with a Diner's Club card, I cannot remember the name of it but believe me it was great, just like a first class lounge. Look into it if you have a Diner's Club card.

Considering that the FRA flight departs in the middle of the night, I usually check in very, very late. (65 min prior to departure or so)
With the usual crowds both at immigration and security, I get to the gate 20 minutes prior to departure. That does not leave much time for the lounge.
The biggest advantage is that the lounge is directly beside of the departure gate. As others mentioned, the F-Section has Lanson champagne.

it's pretty good in my opinion. they're are two, one first class and the other.
the staff is friendly and polite. all flights leave Dubai mid-morning so it looks and feels like any other busy airport during the day.
hope you enjoy and have a safe flight.

Has anyone used the DXB *A lounge lately?
I leave on a 0130 LH flight in July to FRA.
Are the above statements still accurate? *G get access to F section of the LH lounge?
Also:
How long will checkin take at DXB?
Any immigration procedures leaving?
Thanks!

I was not aware that *G had access to the first-class side (which is separated from the other side by a partition, with only seating and a couple of food items exclusively on that side). The signs don't indicate that *G have access, and I didn't even think to ask. I will check next time, but thanks for the tip, Dan72.
(I prefer the Irish Pub, near gate 123 close by. It is the Dubai airport's version of the seedy sailor bar, sort of, but has about a dozen beers of all styles on tap, pretty good food, good prices, and smoking allowed. I find it a nice respite when I am in the Middle East for months at a time.)
As for the airport, it can take a bit of time, as your (and most other *A) flights leave at the peak time for that airport. You go through an x-ray and metal detector first, which is usually not a long line but has no dedicated entrance for premium-class or status passengers. Then check-in will be fast with the dedicated *G counters, immigration could be 15 minutes at most, but then security is fast since it's right after security and there is usually no line because immigration is the bottleneck. Then there is a long walk/people-mover to the gate area. There are no special procedures; you just proceed to passport control after checking in.
(One tip: You don't need to go to the specific check-in area designated for your flight. They have areas A, B, C, D, etc., each with its own pre-check-in x-ray. But they all lead to the same place, and no one checks your itinerary, so if there is a significant difference in the lines, which is often the case, you can just choose the shortest one. This is especially true if you already have your boarding pass.)

The F Lounge in Dubai for LH is a disgrace compared to other lounges. No hot food, no table to eat, no relaxation area, no ceiling so you are in the middle of the hall. I really do not understand why LH does not have a better lounge in Dubai - or even better service for their First Class passengers. The LH airport manager has obviously been there too long and could care less of his F passengers as no escort is offered to go through immigration while other airline do offer this service. Time to review this situation as it makes you want to fly Emirates from Dubai.

Emirates Lounge Access with StarGold?
I think I know the answer to this question but I thought I'd access. With a 1K (Star Gold) card, do we have access to the Emirates Lounge if flying with Emirates economy here in Dubai. I know we accrue miles but does it extend towards lounge access.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Continues to underwhelm.
