RTW Trip Planning

I have not done a Star RTW in a long time. I submitted a RTW booking to my travel agent ;

BKK-NRT-HKG-SFO-LAX-IAD-BOS-LGA/JFK-SIN(SQ 25 VIA FRA)-SIN-KUL-SIN-BKK.

The travel agent in Bangkok got back to me and said it could not be done because I do not have a stop in Europe ? Could someone verify if this itin is okay.

I plan on purchasing a Star 1 29,000 In F Class

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can't you change JFK - SIN into JFK - FRA - SIN?
I did the following flights without stopping :
SIN - FRA (LH) & FRA - JFK (SQ), SQ flight was full on SIN - FRA
BKK - FRA (LH) & FRA - DFW (LH)

As far as I know there is no need for a stop over in europe. I booked my rtw from the US but the rules may be different in BKK. BTW how did it cost?

Thanks for the advice. I believe the cost of the ticket is around 290,000 Thai Baht which is around $ 7300 USD

Just make JFK-SIN as 2 coupons, JFK-FRA-SIN. Its probably coming up as an issue since you go straight from americas to asia without transfering through europe/africa so fails the progression of IATA zones test.

Exclamation

This raises a very interesting possibility if JFK-SIN on SQ25 is considered a trans-Pacific flight (even though it obviously crosses the Atlantic).

'Obviously'? Obviously the great circle routing is straight over the Pole, no Atlantic in sight. Nevertheless, since it is direct from NA to Asia, it is _by definition_ trans-Pacific.

cheers,

Henry

Try to simulate the RTW with the Star alliance RTW calculator, if it says there is no error in your schedule, then it's fine.

JFK-SIN on SQ25 stops in Frankfurt. That's why it "obviously crosses the Atlantic."

Until this thread was raised, I'd neither heard of nor considered a RTW that included the JFK-(FRA)-SIN flight as the trans-Pacific leg. It's an interesting option, for example to those who want to travel in C from the US East Coast to SE Asia on a RTW while avoiding both surcharges (EWR-SIN, JFK-BKK, YYZ-HKG) and UA.

Sorry. I got the number confused with SQ 21, which is also NYC-SIN.

cheers,

Henry

Does this logic work with NZ1 LHR-(LAX)-AKL, too?
LHR-AKL is direct Europe to Asia/Oceania (Area 2 to Area 3) and you could do it without crossing neither Pacific nor Atlantic, but NZ1 is crossing both Atlantic and Pacific and stops in NA.

NZ1/2 is treated as both Pacific and Atlantic crossing (if you do the whole flight) or the respective crossing if only taking half the flight.

If you're short on segments it's a great one to take - halfway around the world using just one segment. There are also NZ7xxx flight numbers for australia east coast (SYD/MEL/BNE) to London.
