Help on fare please
Hi could anyone give me some advise. I would like to fly from Singapore to New York or Richmond and then on to Honolulu and from Honolulu back to Singapore all on Star G metal. I do not have any fix dates yet, but the plan is to stay in New York or Richmond for roughly 5 days, Honolulu 6.5 months and then back to Singapore. Do I have to get a 1 year ticket or is there anything slightly more then 6 months? Any recommendations on where to get the cheapest mileage accurable ticket for the above mentioned itinerary?

Singapore to New York is nearly halfway around the world in itself (I believe the SQ non-stop SIN-EWR is the longest scheduled flight in operation today). The only catch is that if you want to stop in Hawaii on the return, you would have to go via Europe on the outbound.

Alternatively, if you have no plans of going elsewhere during that period, you could buy a SIN-NYC return flight and a separate NYC-HNL return flight. It means a lot more flying, since you would have to go back via NYC to return to SIN, but might work out better pricewise (and would give you more miles).

The places the OP wants to go and timing suggest a RTW. Perhaps look into starting from BKK for a cheaper fare (SIN-BKK is cheap extra ticket).
Itin could look something like BKK-SIN-FRA-NYC-RDU-ORD-HNL-NRT-SIN-BKK which fits under 26k miles and so use the cheapest *A RTW, Star Lite.

NickB and Kiwi Flyer... Much thanks for your advise. I have planned for SIN-FRA-JFK-LAX-HNL-KIX-ICN-TPE-SIN. Total mileage is 22,801. What do you guys think?? Understand from Henry999 that Star RTW Lite is up to a max of 25,000 miles? Do I get the tickets from a Travel Agent or do I go to the airline providing the first flight in this case that would be LH?

Also, think about KFer's suggestion of starting from Bangkok, since RTW fares depend on where you begin. The price from Thailand may be a lot less than the price from Singapore. The rules say that you must start and end in the same country BUT you could either (a) leave the last segment 'open' for use sometime later within the year of ticket validity or (b) simply not go.
