A number of updates have been made to the OP - CO & MS added, changes to AC, SA, TK.

Thanks for your patience, and information on new/changed booking classes.

see also CO FAQ

Considering that CO always uses a 2-class plane (unless they are using an all economy plane) I think listing both FC and BC for Continental can be confusing. I think you should combine that into one class, as it's always one premium class on CO

Mileage earning and redemption with many *A programs will depend on the official classification as "First" or "Business".

Code share fare code equivalencies

Is there a reference somewhere comparing fare classes (primarily economy classes) which track equivalent fare codes? For example, I am booked on a UA codeshare flight operated by AC. The UA fare code is T, but what does that track to on AC? I don't believe it is also T.

AFAIK that is city-pair dependent. There might be a correspondence that works much of the time, but not reliably enough to call it a "rule".

I find a comparison of the base fares is usually pretty reliable. For example, find the AC fare with the same base fare as the UA T fare on that route.

You could do this by trial and error on ITA (specify a specific fare class and uncheck the "check seat availability" box) or using a KVS/ExpertFlyer sort of service.

AC has changed their RTW booking classes from C to Z. Of course Z and R(the upgrade bucket) appears to be identical--so now it's harder to book RTW in Business on AC--but very easy on LH!! Good idea AC--partners can now make more money!!

It is both fare and city pair dependent. I've accumulated over 100 data points but that is quite far from complete. Still, the collection is here: http://tools.wanderingaramean.com/To...e_Mapping.aspx.

Thank you all, and for the tables provided by the link. Seems my UA T fare will equate to an AC L fare, which is Tango+ and would earn mileage in MP which an AC T fare would not. It's YYZ-DEN. I was able to get seating on the AC flight calling the SE line a few weeks ago but never asked about the fare code.

Upgrade on SQ Using UA Miles - Eligible Fare Codes?

Hi All!

I'm looking at a last minute booking on SQ on one of their new 777ERs and would like to book an upgradeable fare using a *A Upgrade from UA. My understanding from UA is that YBS fares are eligible for the Y to C upgrade, though when I phoned SQ Reservations, they said that YBS and E fares are also eligible for the upgrade.

Can anyone clarify this for me? Remember, I'm looking for a *A Upgrade award, not a KF upgrade. Also, does anyone know if there are certain flights on SQ where *A Upgrades are not permitted? I seem to remember SQ saying only KrisFlyer miles could be used for upgrades on newly configured aircrafts...

Mods, not sure if this belongs in the SQ or UA Mileage threads. Please move if necessary.

There has been another (!) slight change effective September 29, 2010.

It is now:

EC : YBMUHQVWSLKTANGPEO X

The link to the fare names is out of date. See this post for an updated version: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/14863168-post510.html

Am I reading the comparisons correctly when I say that

"W" class on AC would map to "K" class on Singpapore Airlines
"V" class in AC would map to "E" class on Singapore Airlines

?

Thanks ...

No. The opening post lists the various booking classes in order from highest to lowest and shows some special ones used for awards and upgrades. It does not follow that for example the 4th economy booking class for airline A = 4th economy booking class for airline B.

Thank-you for the clarification. If anyone has insight into my comparison I would appreciate it.

Can someone please advise and check how the actual list is on Turkish Airlines as I cannot find Comfort Class in it?
Thanks!
