Waded through most of this thread and can't find the answers, nor can I find it on the UA website.
a. If I buy a ticket through Thai Airways, for Thai Airways metal flights, do I call UA Mileage Plus to upgrade using UA miles? (Understanding it must be a Y/B fare.)
b. Or do I have to purchase the ticket from UA (on Thai metal) to use UA miles to upgrade?
c. If no upgrades are available when I call, will I waitlist or have to keep calling back?

I apologize if this has been answered previously, but I'm not clear on the current status...
Is it possible to upgrade C->F on the SQ B77W using the *A Upgrade Award (UA MileagePlus)? I know the A380 is blocked, but the B77W seems to qualify.
